Default poll:Kappa vs. Quart

for your 4th generation trans am, in my case only the fronts and mids, the hatch has been ditched for the roll cage mounting point... I listen to hard rock, and some old rock, so guitar and voices must be clear as crystal, but i do want ample amount of bass to complete the concert like environment.. what sounds clear, and most reliable for minor sound system setup. I plan to buy two caps, and neccessary amp(s). one sub- solo barik L7

i recently read that the MB Quarts blow these Kappas out of the water, as well as the shitty reputation the Kappas have...

I've got the Kappas and love em. I've read some of the reviews that haven't been so great, but I've had great luck with them on several cars. I have the 6.5" components up front, 6.5" coax in back seat and 2 12" Comp VR kicker subs. Powering them is a 800x4 amp and the subs are hitting through a 800x1 monoblock kicker amp as well as a 1 farad cap. No problems ot speak of and I listen to the same kind of music as you are talking about.

I have the Kappas, comps in the front, coax in the sails, powered by a rockford 400@4 amp. I think it sounds great. The quarts have a great reputation, but the price was a factor for me. The kappas were a good deal off e-bay new in the box.

Had both, MBQ's w/o a doubt, but you'll pay for them too!

Couldn't get the Kappa 6.25I's to put out! Suggest nothing less than the reference series or higher (premiums or Q's)

Had the Discus series, and they sounded good, but I blew them doing a Drive-by competition. All depends on how much power you have to drive them also. IMO, the louder they are, the better they sound!

The MBQ's will crank with authority given the juice! I assume you have the exhaust competing against your stereo?

I must ask why limit yourself to just (2) manufacturers? There are several good component sets available on the market that are reasonably priced.

Ditto, if your going with kappa, be sure to get the kappa perfects.

I had 6.5" perfect components in my truck powered by a 200x2 rms ppi art series amp. Do not be afraid to 'overpower' these speakers, they have an insane power handling capability.
