Default Installed new HU, now battery died.

All right. Installed my Excelon X890, then drove around for a little while. Then pulled the car in the garage to start playing around with the new HU and XM radio. DIdnt leave the engine on, but left the key turned over so i could mess around with the HU. Well, about 10-15 minutes later, tried to crank it up... nothing. It is still clicking and all the other electronics are working.... lights come on, antenna goes up, interior lights come on as well... it just wont turn over.

wtf have i done???

Sounds like the battery just ran down while you were messing with it. I've done it a few times. Try charging the battery and see what that does.

The battery should not have drained down that fast. Once in a while, I run my stereo for a good 20 minutes and no issues with the battery. Might want to have the battery checked out. Also, check the battery connections for corrosion.

It looks like the stocker battery anyways... 4 years and 34K miles later... might be getting to be that time.

The stock Delco Battery did not even last that long in both of my cars, '98 TA and '00 Grand Am.

Well, what would be in my best interest. I have just replaced the HU with a Kenwood/XM Direct setup. I have not put the comps, coaxs, amps, and sub in there... that is going to be pieced together soon.

If I wanted to do a little electrical alteration as possible, what would be my best course of action? Get a monster battery???

Several people are using the Optima Redtop and that is ~$140. I have been using Sears DieHard Gold Batteries and have had no issues. I will say, it is one heavy SOB. The Optima's are lighter and might be a better way to go. Might want to consider upgrading the wiring. That is, the "big 3" to 4 gauge or better.
