A bunch of questions to help me figure out my planned system.
Well First of all, sorry about the long post, I am very new into car audio and I need all the help that I can get. I want to get everything right the first time. Here is a detailed plan for a new audio system for my '98 trans am m6 coupe with T-tops and stock everything audio wise with the original monsoon system with several blown speakers.
My old car was a 97 firebird and I had Best Buy install the sound system and I was very disappointed. I am looking for a very high quality system for my new Trans Am that won't require major modifications to the car and won't depreciate the value of the car at all. I want a quality system that I can play quite loudly and should still last a long while. The tuning of the system will be mild and well withing the ratings of all the equipment, I am kind of basing this system on Mike02Z's system which can be found here .
My number 1 goal is high quality. I want a very high quality system with plenty of bass and the mid range and high range to keep up with the bass. I want a system that can be easily hidded from view so it appears stock from the outside to deter theives.I listen to some classic rock, Zepplin, Van Halen, Foreigner, and Rush. I also listen to a lot of newer more underground rock with a greater emphasis on heavy bass beats and more of an electronic feel to them. Examples of these would be The Faint, American Analog Set, and The Postal Service. I also listen to some of the more popular bands like My Chemical Romance and other emo. I don't like country or rap at all but I still want a lot of bass in my system.
Here is the system that I have figured out that I want so far.
I haven't figured out what head unit I want. I want a high quality head unit that can support everything else in my system and that is either XM or Sirius ready. I would like something a little flashy with a cool multi-color display. I would like a wide selection in tuning various frequencies and an independent sub-woofer control. I would also like it to work with the steering wheel controls already in the car.
The head unit will be connected to two amps, also to be predetermined. I was thinking about one JL Audio 300/4 to power 4 Focal Polyglass 165 CV1s.
My subs will be placed into a passenger and driver side stealth boxes with an Elemental Designs 11Ov.2 Subwoofer in each (they seem to be highly recommended for those boxes). I have not figured out an amp that I would like to use to power these.
The Amps will be placed on a subthump amp rack.
So basically my questions are.
1)What head unit should I get?
2)What amp should I get to power my subs?
3)Any errors with my current choices?
4)Will this system satisify my goals stated above. If not what should I change?
5)Should I get the extended amp rack?
After I figure out the system exactly how I want it, I will probably have a bunvh more questions about the actual installation of the system. I have a few friends that will help that are a lot more knowedgable that me but I want this done right.
Thankyou in advance for any help and advise.

1)Pioneer P 5800M
2)anything Alpine
3)donkt think subthump makes passenger side stealths anymore, might have to make one yourself or buy one used
4)anything that you put this much money in better surpass all expectations for anything
5)unless you plan on getting a cap, the standard version is fine, but $10 more dollars isnt bad just in case you ever wanted to upgrade.
