Default keyless entry

94 trans-am and 94 camaro. Both have it and both suck. I have to press the button repetedly and sometimes over 10 times. What causes this? I already changed the batteries in each remote. Any ideas?

Which button?
How far away are you?
All remotes or just one?

The keyless entry system in the 4th gen f-body has a short range.

It may be a problem with the car's transceiver.
I don't know where it is or how to fix it though.

The receiver is built-in to the BCM.

this happens to me too in my camaro. "resynchronizing" it seems to help at least a little bit.

Get in range of the car (stand right next to it to be safe) and before unlocking it and getting it, hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for about 7 seconds. The car unlocks and relocks to show it accepted it.

It might not help in this case, but it helps me in my similiar problems sometimes.

Good luck.

Here is a thread I dug up:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...43#post6325043
It doesn't have a solution either, but I responded in there recently thinking about possible solutions to increasing the range.

The micro-switches under the buttons wear out. Probably time to get a new remote. Unless you're good with a soldering iron and can locate the appropriate replacement parts.
