Default Antenna Question

Quick question for you guys. I have a Kenwood Excelon X890 aftermarket HU.

What I would like to do is keep the power antenna down when I am listening to my cd's and XM radio. And then have the antenna go up when I am listening to the radio (which is hardly ever).

I would like to just disconnect the power antenna from the XM and Compact disc source on the HU. Can this be done???

What car?
If its a 98+ Firebird with Monsoon, you can put a switch in the pink antenna wire in the wiring harness going to the radio. That will give you manual control over the antenna. Open Ciurcuit = antenna stays down. Closed Circuit = antenna comes up when the headunit calls for it.

Did you pull out the Monsoon or it didnt come with it?

Either way, the antenna wire might still be pink.

You can also identify the antenna wire by looking in the manual for the aftermarket headunit.

Thumbs up Kenwood Excelon X890

Here's a the deal man......
Your HU should have two blue wires, one is a blue/white for remote, the one that powers up the amps and a solid blue wire for power ant. You probably don't have the power ant. wire hooked up right.
If the power ant. wire is connected properly you should have your ant. go down when switching from RADIO play to CD or XM play..........
And then back up again when switched back to RADIO.....

It's the same type of wiring as an Alpine HU's, what i have...... But i don't have apower ant. and i like it dat way............. lol

Laters!!!!!

Isn't there an antenna wire that makes the antenna go up only when listening to the radio, down when listening to CD's? I have an Excelon unit that is 6 years old, and it has an antenna wire as well as a constant wire. So, the antenna is only up when listening to FM but not for casssettes or CD's, but the amps are always on.
