Default What's A Good Setup

ok i have a problem when buying systems. I go out and buy the most expensive stuff and than end up going in debt lol...dont worry im only 17 years old. Well i would like to know what a good setup would be. im looking for a setup that's just perfect, i dont want it so loud you can hear everything rattling but i want it loud enough so you can hear just a tad outside of the car. im going to be buying this jvc headunit

and i am looking at getting 2 kicker 10" comp subs. What speakers should i get all around and are these subs any good. O and before you say search, i already have and i went through 4 pages and gave up. So if you have any helpful tips please tell me.

Thanks
David

system buying takes a ton of research. You've got a good start buy posting, but sying you want sometihgn thats "just perfect" isnt going to do much. I started working on mine right at Thnksgiving and just finished everything up last weekend, so it is a long process that takes tones of research on every level. I work at best buy and i spent many nights just hanging out with our Mobile guys talking with them, just seeing what's a good product. So you might start out that way. People talk alot of crap about my store, but we know what we are doing. do that or go on to a car audio forum and just hang out there.
The headunit you have is nice, expensive, but nice. As far as kicker, ive heard mnixed things about them. JL is always a safe bet and so is alpine. you will need new door and sail speakers as well, my honest opinion is to go with an amp for those, i have a kenwood 8452 that makes my speakers hit hard. overall though, DONT CHEAP OUT ON STUFF, buying junk just makes your car suck. that deosnt mean spend $2500 on stuff, but Wal-Mart is not your friend in this case.

Alpine is meh. Not really crap or anything, but there are better choices. And I'd say Kicker is no worse than Alpine. Their HUs are pretty good if you don't mind buying accessories to do anything with them.

$800.00 is the budget??!! OK lets see what we can do:
JVC AVX1 HU: $300.00
Hifonics Zeus zxi8006 5 channel: $213.40
CDT Audio CL-6Ex: $113.00
CDT Audio CL-6 mid bass: $110.00
Stealth box: $112.00
Infinity Reference 1052W sub: $73.50
Plus wiring kit: $35.00
OOOPs: $956.90 I got kinda close!!!!!!!! But this would make a nice system!! Your not gonna win an SPL competition but it would sound great, be loud and clear. You might be able to get closer to your $800.00 budget if you get a different HU. About $150.00 would get you something nice that has 3 channel RCA outs and MP3 capability. Maybe a Kenwood, Clarion, Pioneer, or I know Dragonrages favorite..Alpine!! J/K!!! That would get you in your price range and be a really nice sounding system. Keep in mind these are suggestions, not the end all be all!! Plus I was trying to keep in the budget..LOL!!

2 words as to why skip the sails..front stage. You want the ear to feel like all the sound is coming from the front...like a rock concert. When you put speakers behind you it draws away from the front stage.

Dude!!! Of course it's more expensive it's Circuit City!!! Here it is on ebay for $50.00 bucks cheaper and free shipping:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PIONEER-DEH-...QQcmdZViewItem
How about this $100.00 cheaper with shipping costs (refurbished):
http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-DEH-P780...QQcmdZViewItem
Here's the JVC KD-SHX750 which is just like that for $275.00!!
http://cgi.ebay.com/JVC-KD-SHX750-EX...QQcmdZViewItem
So actually it's LESS expensive!!!!!! Just gotta shop. Circuit City, Best Buys, Crutchfield, H.H. Gregg, all retail outlets= pay top dollar normally...unless they got some kinda group buy but those deals are rare.

I got my 7800 from sounddomain.com for like $320. Their customer service was AWESOME. The first deck they sent me had a ground problem so they replaced it no questions asked. They paid shipping both ways, too.

If you're afraid of the eBay route though, there is always SonicElectronix.com - usually about the same, and you know what you're getting.
