Default ?'s about Subthump Stealth Box

Has anyone put a 12" in the 10" Box successfully? If so what Sub?

Also what Sub are you currently running in it? Pro's/Con's of the Sub and Box? How much wattage are you giving the sub?

I have decided to buy a subthump box already. I am just having a hard time finding a 10" sub that will take 700-800watts daily that isn't over $120. So any help or recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks,
John

When you want high power handling, you can't set a low budget

The subthump box is pretty small for 95% of the 12s out there... there are only a few that would work WELL in such a small enclosure.
Here is a 10" woofer that will handle 1000 watts of clean power:
http://www.tcsounds.com/tc1000.htm
It is $159 shipped though. It will also work in as small as a 0.4cF box. Subthump's box is 0.6cF.

you are going to have an even harder time finding a 12" sub that will fit and sound good for under that price as well.

I would go with this 12" if it fit the box - http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3170

Rockford owns MB Quart now so that is basically an old series Rockford Power series sub. I put a 15 in a sealed box for a friend and wasn't very impressed. Rockford subs are definitly best in ported enclosures.

I would be most concerned with getting a sub that works well with the volume available from that box. You could always invert the sub so depth really isn't that much of an issue. Take that for what it is worth since I dont have experience with this box, but inverting a sub has zero effect on performance.

Nope, Rockford sold off MB Quart about a year or so ago. Quart is now owned by Maxxsonics, same company that brings you Hifonics and Crunch

Get out of car audio for a couple years and you really lose track of what is going on. Hifonics makes nice amps for spl competition but that is about all that I can say for those other companies. That is unless in the last year or so the quality has also gone up.

Most people buy the stealth box so they can still store their t-tops and have their trunk space. Inverting a sub would mean you lose the ability to store your t-tops, defeating the purpose of a stealth box

Don't let this mislead you....the sub can only handle 400 watts RMS, which doesn't meet the poster's requirements - assuming he meant 800 watts of continuous power.

This is the only sub that comes to mind close to your budget -- minimum recommended airspace is .7 cu.ft.......subthump stealth is .6 cu.ft as mentioned.......close as you're gonna get I think. Depth is fine as well.

Read the description of the subwoofer on their website.
It can handle 400 watts of continuous power, but don’t be afraid to feed it 1000 clean watts as the voice coil will harness that power and deliver surprising sound pressure levels.
It'll take the power

An IDQ is the best option, but its $159 I believe. It will work in 0.35cF up to 0.70cF.

Like I said I dont have any personal experience with this box. I am interested in putting something like this in my car eventually and invert the sub if I have to. I can care less about stealth I like this box because it is up out of the way and I could still store stuff in the hatch area. I would go on a limb here and say I bet I could still get my T tops in there holder with an inverted sub.

That would be a short limb
My buddy had a 10" L7 in a stealth box and the sub actually rubbed the t-tops a little bit under high excursion. If the cone will rub, I doubt you can get the basket and magnet to fit

The box actually has a fair amount of depth to it, just no volume.

Thanks - definitely didn't read into it that much -- not too familiar with their products, so figured I'd see ratings under their specs like most companies.

• 400 watts continuous power (1200 watts peak)
-thats what I saw, and assumed if they said 1200 peak that 1000RMS is a little much.....

Wow!! I didn't realize it could be that tight. Ya no doubt about it then cant invert it and get the T tops in. Sorry for hi jacking the thread. Back to topic!

Yeah that is a perfectly normal and quite smart assumption. They under rate their drivers though Their rating is a 24 hour period of running 400 watts! If they can take 400 watts for 24 hours, they can take a couple hundred more watts for 1 or 2 hours Very underrated drivers

What if I upped my spending limit to $160 for the sub shipped to my door? Is the TC-1000 still the best bet? Also the sub will be being played as I drive to Kansas this summer from Florida so roughly 7 hours straight for 2-3days. It will be unbridged on a 1400.1 MMATS amp so I figure that it should be getting 600 watts power more than likely instead of the 700-800watts. Gain will be between 1/2 and 3/4 on the map more than likely.

The TC-1000 is definately a very low distortion driver that is able to get loud, too. As long as you feed it clean power (meaning an unclipped signal. Head unit at full blast and amp gains at full blast are a no-no) it will be fine with you gains set at 1/2 or 3/4 of the way up.

I don't know if it is "the best" because "the best" is a subjective opinion. There isn't really one "best" subwoofer out there. I think you'd be pretty happy with a TC-1000 though.

I understand what you mean by their being no single best sub. I am saying is it the best sub for the money I am spending on it and the power it will see along with the stealth box it is going in.

With the power, space, and budget, I'd say it is in the top three
