Sereous remote start issue
Ok so my remote start on my 99LS1 M6 car was working fine. Now it wont start with the key??? I have looked at it several times and gave up. The ignition seems ok. If the car is running I can crank the key and the starter will grind. When I turn the key the ignition and light come on but no engine cranking. The remote start starts the car fine. I want to fix this any ideas?? At least it would be harder to steal the car. Pleas help any thing.

Did you use one of those ScotchLock connectors to tap into the starter wire? Those have been known to cut almost completely through the wire when installed. With time and vibration, the wire could have come apart leaving only the wire from the remote starter connected on the starter side.

Ok just started tearing it appart again. Dam this thing is pissing me off. So i did not use scothc locks on the starter connection it is hardwired all conections are perfect. I checked the starter wire on the car and from off to start it is getting 12votls as long as i hold the key turned. I have continuity between the starter wire under the dash and where the starter relay under the hood is. I need to see if i get 12v at the starter relay but i can not do it by myself my arms are too short. Dam this thing is pissing me off. Any more ideas before i go crazy. At least this is challanging right! Thanks for the input so far.

Sometimes the remote start brain and the alarm brains are the same. If the remote start unit accidentally (power surge, battery reset, etc) gets tripped in to the alarm mode, it will kill the starter from the ignition as if it thinks the alarm has been set off. Look through your owners manual to see if the "alarm" option can be turned off on your particular model.
