Default How do I remove the door lock ****?

I am in the midst of trying to remove the driver’s side door panel in order to remove the speaker. I am at the point where I need to remove the door lock ****. My Haynes manual simply says "Remove the door lock **** by sliding it forward and using a small screwdriver to detach the rod lock." Can anyone give me some guidance on how I actually do this? I tried sliding a screwdriver between the rod and the back side of the ****. However, when I pry it feels more like the **** is going to break rather than pop off. Which angle am I supposed to be pulling, prying, etc.?

Thanks.

It just pops off. There's no real science to it. Just pull out and forward toward the front of the car. I actually just made a video of how to remove a door panel but the file is massive so I am going to make another one that is smaller.

Are you doing a camaro or firebird?? The screwdriver sounds like overkill. Here's a pic of it looks like off the car.

SORRY!!! Very blurry...took at night just now!! They give you a general idea though. Good luck!!

pull the black part which is farthest forward towards the opposite side of the car.

Thanks. That's exactly what I needed to know. Looks easy.

I'm glad I asked because I was pulling on the wrong end. I will give it a try tonight.

ultraz, I followed your instructions and the **** came right off. Thanks.

And, I'm sure people would love to have access to your video. I've now been wrestling with the door panel. It seems to be mostly free except the top rear corner. I ran out of steam but try some more tomorrow.

Hmmmm. Nothing like taking things apart and not being able to get them back together. I've done that before.

I hope Walking-dead's video includes reassembly too.
