Ever thought about an 8" sub? Just like others have said alot of your sound quality and output will have to do with your enclosure AND subwoofer combo. www.ddaudio.com makes an awesome 8" in the DD1508. My wife has one in her Scion XB and I always want to take it from her

I'd seriously check out a solobaric L7 10" square subwoofer with a custom q-logic type box.

They sound great!

that memphis setup is gorgeous, i really dont have much experience with Memphis. I had some 3way speaker sin one of my old cars, That was years ago, but I think I rememebr them sounding pretty good. A lot of people seem to like the subs.

Since most say that a ten isnt good for deep bass, could you look for a sub that has a low Resonance Frequency [fs], and Frequency Response? Couldn't you choose a woofer that would be a deeper sound than a cheap sony 10?

I've heard that the subthump boxes are good stuff, but just keep in mind, if you buy a stealth enclosure that is specifically made for a certain sub, it will probably sound better than if you buy one and slap in your favorite sub.

I personally heard the subthump solobaric L7 setup last week, and it was AWESOME!

Here is a picture of a L7 in a subthump box:
