those are the newer ones. Theyve been out for like 2 years or so. The old ones had green acrylic, not blue. THe new ones are REFERENCE series, the old ones were KAPPA. Take a look at some nice RF amps, u can get them rather cheap. Whatever you do, dont buy jensen or audiobahn.

You will also be able to tell how efficient it is if the amp advertises its current consumption at rated output, too.Perfect example is the Zed Audio Minilith. It has an 89db SNR, but a Hifonics BXi 1206D has a 95db SNR. The AUdiobahn A8000V advertises a 100db SNR even. The Minilith, however, absolutely destroys these amps in every way possible.
The Zed Audio Gladius has a 98db SNR and was recently reviews as one of the top 5 SQ amps ever tested by Car Audio and Electronics magazine.
SNR isn't everything
and for my subs the mono RF subs arent givin me what i want...im lookin for 400-550 RMS x 1 on the subs
anyone got any links or suggestions thatd b great
i was looking at this brand called Earthquake and it was showin some insane wattage so i dunno if thats trustworth or just a shitty brand
and thx for explaining the SNR 95bat
75x4 @ 2 ohms
400x1 @ 1 ohm
Can be found used for ~150-250 every now and then. Very compact and efficient.
I don't know what you have on your sub right now but realize there isn't a big difference between 300rms and 450rms. It's not linear. Often times the time is better spent on enclosure tuning.
So I would look into a memphis 4 channel (same 55x4) and a memphis 500 class D (mono sub amp does 500rms at 2 ohms). Those auction up all the time. Or maybe just whatever 4 channel you want with the Memphis for the subs. The 500 watt class D amps pop up all the time and match your needs perfectly. I have one for grabs if you can't find something on ebay.
For enclosure tuning, I mean simply checking that your box matches your subs. You want max volume output, it should be ported. And that requires proper tuning as well.
Lookup your subs, RF should have recommended enclosures for them. If you just put them in a box without thinking about how well they matched, that could be a lot of your problem.
A single 10" in a properly matched and tuned ported enclosure can sound better with 150 watts than two 10" subs with 400 watts in the wrong enclosure.
