Default built a custom box for a sub. check it out.

well here's some pictures of it just being screwed together.

you can see how it doesn't quite fit up against the paneling.

after that i bondo'd it to seal the box and wrapped the front in white vinyl to match the car.

what do y'all think? yay or nay? it cost me about $10 cause i had to buy some screws and bondo and took a grand total of 3 hours.

Volume is below .6 ft^3 I'm sure -- it's hard to get much out of that without complex cutting or using fiberglass.

I guarantee you it's better you cut pieces and mess around with fitting them yourself for something like this.

I think it looks fine -- Not too sure about the white face tho -- would prob look better if I saw more of the actual car as well.

how much does it rattle back there. i would think that bolting it in there would be better than just setting it back there

Not too shabby my friend. I would paint it w/ a textured paint that matches the interior color, and maybe spray some canned insulation between the metal and the actual box to absorb excess vibration.

sheets of sound deadener would probably work better

How do you think the Bondo sealed? I believe people who use fiberglass use that -- I didn't know some use it on MDF as well -- seems like a really thin seal if you didn't use any type of glue between the joints as well.

yeah i think i'll get some sound deadner to put in the cubby hole to help keep it from rattling. i hate that so much.

i think the bondo sealed pretty good. i made it thick and i made sure to make it get down in the cracks good. and that stuff gets pretty hard.

i'm using the CVR so i'm not too worried about having a massive amount of air space. i'd prefer to have a little more space, but i think this will work.

overall i don't know how it sounds yet because i don't have an amp hooked up yet. i have one coming in the mail.

cool -- if you didn't run glue between the joints as well -- I would probably run a thin line of silicone sealant along the seams just in case

let us know how it sounds once you get your amp!

ha ha "fitment" thanx tho. i tried to make it as big as possible without complicating the whole thing.

if i get the sub in and don't like it i might go back and try to build a complex box that has to be dropped in, instead of slid in.

can't wait for the damn amp to come in the mail!!! hopefully it'll be here tomorrow before i move back to college on sunday. ha ah.

looks nice, in the future maybe a layer or 2 of fiberglass to keep it together and solid should do you good.
