Going through the process today.
Hopefully I'll report back some good news later this afternoon.
This is the ONLY thing keeping me from getting in some excellent Track Time.
So, that's my incentive..."No Window Motor...No Racing"
Sounds like reason enough to me.

Thanks for the info, and the detailed pics!

Are you trying to replace only the window motor?
Or do you want to replace the regulator or swap to manual?

If you want to only replace the window motor, you can follow this simpler guide for just that:
http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html
(I wedged a block of wood under the glass instead of using a clamp though.)

Yeah, I'm just doing the window motor. Going to have to wait until I get back in from
work tomorrow though. I ran out of time,... it would've already been dark before I had
a chance to start. So, 1st thing tomorrow... once I return back from work that is.

BTW,... that link is the exact process I'll be following.
Thanks Again

If I get a used window motor is there a way to test it to see if it works without installing it ?

You would need to unplug your old window motor and plug in the new/used motor while you have the door panel off.

Just out of personal experience, get a DOORMAN window motor because they last a good while since they aren't just re manufactured ones.

This is one of those fixes you only wana do once a year if not less, unless you are on a budget or got a motor out of a junkyard.

Ok, this may be dumb but how do you know if you need a regulator. I have been on here a while and this makes me feel like a newb but this is just something I have never done in the past. I have had 3 4th gens and this is the first time a motor died. I looked at the prices and it is much cheaper without the regulator.

I pretty sure you just need the motor. The regulator if I remember holds the window etc....

All you need is the motor (not the regulator) and they go for around $50.

Post #13 above contains pics of the motor.
