What radar detector do you use?

I use the 9500i my friend has the V1 he says he hates it compared to mine. I like how it also tells you how fast you are going when it goes off(and in real time as well) Its also really great because it eliminates false alerts. If your driving and you get a false alert you hit the mute button 3 times, it stores the location via satelite and if you pass the same location again and there is a different signal that wasnt the false alert it will go off. Ive had it for 4 months so far and its kept me out of ALOT of trouble.

i dont use one and i speed and street race all the time. i've got good eyes and trust my gut. i know where they sit or where they might sit and just slow down in those areas if im blowing through in a bad area or where i know theres a cop than im not pulling over anyways because im obviously in a hurry for something serious lol.

I use a Bletronics Vector 955. Like all detectors, it goes apeshit on X and K band but you can turn off X. They don't use it in Atl. I like this one, good value. Saved me from three tickets already. You have to be careful though, they can make you overconfident.

That is the only place you can buy them, from the manufacturer, Mike Valentine, who is the engineer that originally invented the Escort-
I have owned a couple of the original escorts, an upgrade to the passport when they came out- I also have owned a Whistler Spectrum, and one of the high-end BELtronics-
Yeah, I know that radartest.com doesn't rate the Valentine too highly- Gee, do you think it because they can't sell them??? I bought my V-1 in about '96, and it has been back in for at least 2 upgrades- what do you have when you lay out ~$300 for a new passport or BEL after a couple years? You have an obsolete radar-detector that doesn't pick up the newest bands, or pulsed radar- with a V-1 you just get it upgraded for a few bucks, and you are still at the top of the pack-
Drive with one for a week, and you will never go back-
I won't even go into instant-on radar versus laser, I will assume that most of the people reading this link know about the technology they are trying to defeat-

couple of my friends have v1's but ive been using my buddies passport solo and i dont like it, the v1's arrows are where it's at. Definitely need to start saving to get one of these

And if you got hit by LIDAR (LASER), it certainly wasn't by a cop on a bike. LIDAR guns are heavy and must be used on a non-moving mount such as a tripod. They are never mounted on (or in) a vehicle.
A common trap is to have an officer with a tripod mounted laser gun on an overpass and have patrol officers on the road below pulling over those who get clocked speeding.

This one's been dead for some time but radar detectors are stupid. Cops have radar on the front, rear, and sides of their car. The detecter senses radar on you well after the cop knows how fast you're going. If it starts beeping at you, it's too late. WASTE OF MONEY.
i just wanted to say that i really wish people would stop coming on here and posting incorrect information such as this. if you're ignorant to the facts, then by all means, come here and ask questions, but don't post utter garbage like this and pass it off as fact.
if you were speaking about laser, you'd be closer to being correct.....but with radar, you can most definitely slow down in time to save yourself a ticket, assuming you have a good detector, and also depending on the circumstances.
obviously, if you and the cop are the only ones on the road, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who is speeding. but in other traffic, even if it's just a few other cars, there's literally no way to tell which car is speeding, unless you're really hauling *** and flying by other people like they're sitting still, or you're all in a line and you're at the front of the pack.
radar reflects off of solid objects unless the solid objects somehow absorb/diffuse the signal, so you can even sometimes pick up radar around corners/curves, far before the cop can even see you coming. i've seen this happen first-hand with my V1...there was a curve in the road that curved by about 50° - 60° or so, with thick woods on both sides, and i started picking up a signal as i was getting close to the curve....i slowed down, went around the curve, and up the road about 1/8 of a mile coming in my direction was a cop, and my radar detector goes ape ****. i would have never slowed down in time had it not been for my radar detector, because the woods were so thick going around the curve that i couldn't see him coming.
the good part is that there's absolutely now way they will be able to get a speed reading with you around a corner/curve in the road, especially if there's trees blocking your/his view, because the signal that bounces off your car has no direct path back to his radar gun....it just gets diffused by the other objects it is bouncing off of.
also, if you're a mile away and you start picking up a very weak signal that starts getting stronger as you get closer, you have plenty of time to slow down (assuming you're not flying at mach 2 or something) before the cop can get an accurate reading from you.....especially if it's a somewhat hilly road, and not completely flat.
if you get a good radar detector, they're definitely not "stupid", and can save your ***....mine has saved my *** more times than i can count.

i havent looked into the Escort ZR3 yet. i have been looking into the Laser Interceptor lately. it looks promising, especially if the device fits and works when mounted in the front grille.

Nothing beats the Valentine One in radar and laser detection in the under $500 radar detector category.
