Default What sub to use for Subthump box?

I just ordered a driver side box from subthump.com, what do you guys reccomend for the sub? I was thinking about a JL 10w3v3. What do you guys with this box use for the sub? I will be running it with a JL 500/1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly the answers you will get will vary across the board on that one.
I have run Rockford Fosgate HE2, JL Audio W3V2 D4, CDT EF-100, Alpine Type-S and currently am using a RE Audio SE D4 sub. I am waiting the release of the next batch of CDT HD-S.Q. subs which will happen in January. Those will be going in as soon as I get them. The above mentioned were used in a variety of stealth enclosures from MTX, Vantage, and Subthump as well as my own fiberglass stealth enclosure. All have about the same airspace volume at .6-.7ft^3.
The sub that sounded the "deepest" to me is the RE Audio. It was the best for boom type bass but does the techno type bass well also. The tightest was the CDT EF-100 for real tight kickdrum thump that hits hard. The JL W3 was another strong sub but lacked the low end. All the others worked well but the top three in my book that I've heard and used were the above.
My personal opinion is that the W3 is overpriced at $165.00. Stamped steel basket, 300watts rms, and a single voice coil...no dual voice coil available anymore in the W3 limits your wiring options. I think the W3V2 was a better more versatile sub. JL just made the W3 look like a W6/7, upped the price, and reduced it to a single voice coil.
The RE Audio SE is my favorite and is in the same price range as the W3 but not even in the same ballpark as far as performance.
The CDT EF-100 is in the same league as the Kicker CVR, RF P3, JL W3 but I think delivers better overall sound quality.
For the record these are all subs I've used in the past or have heard in person. Opinions will vary across the board on this but the bottom line is your budget and your listening tastes should be the determining factors.

I liked the old RF subs. Some of the newer ones I'm kinda put off by with all the plastic stuff on them. I prefer to see the basket and magnet. Not cover it up with plastic covers and such. My personal favorites were the HE2 and HX2.

KEE, pretty soon i will be buying a stealth box from you. Will a 10" W6V2 or 10" MTX 8500 or possibly some 10" RE audio sub fit? if it does will it just sound like crap?

I currently run an RE Audio SE in one and it sounds great. I would think you would be fine with any of those subs in one.

I found the SE to hit very hard. In fact the only big difference between the SE and the SX was the SE's have a 3" 4 layer aluminum voice coil and the SX's have an 8 layer 3" aluminum voice coil. Plus RE does not recommend the SX for a sealed enclosure. The SE is recommended for sealed at .4-.65 which is perfect for stealth enclosure. The SX's are also dual 2ohm voice coils. SE's are dual 4ohm.

honestly, when i bought my dual 10'' box from subthump, i was dead set on getin 2 JL
W3's cus JLaudio has always been my top choice of subs to use. But i quickly changed my choice to the Boston Acoustics. i have 2 G3's and there the best sounding subs i have heard in a long time. the jl's had a more sloppy/dirty base sound while the G3's hit hard and are very Tight. but as eveyone has said, its all personal opinion. But i would say Boston Acoustic G3

I was liked the sound of my W3V2's until I put in my RE Audios. A few months ago I tested the CDT EF-100 and they blew the W3's away also. They W3 just didn't have the tight sound quality like the CDT or the RE.

i had a fiberflass box with a jlaudio 10w1 sounded awsome, bass was very clean and not distorted. i pulled everything out to sell, but you need to find what sub you like and use that one, i had 3 diff. subs in it and liked the jl the best. so its a matter of preferance. each sub sounds different.
