Default cd skipping with a stiff suspension

Has anyone come up with a mounting braket (cantilevered??), or ANY solution for the disc skip on our rides with a real stiff/handling suspension (shocks/springs/tires, etc.)???
BTW; it's a Pioneer DEH-P3900MP head unit in a 2000 Z28.

It's most likely the head unit. Some have an anti skip feature built in and some don't. But newer head units should be fine. Try lowering the tire pressure to soften the ride a little and see if that helps.

I did that already and it helps on the smaller 'hits', but NOT on the bigger stuff. The worst is the raised (3/4"-1") bridge/overpass conctrete slabs, where it ALWAYS skips, even if I hit it at an extreme angle!!
Should I look into a warranty claim from Pioneer??

I run G2 super springs, Koni SA's, and everything else in the book suspension wise. I have never had any cd skipping issues. Unless I hit a big pothole... Other than that all is good in cd country. Its not the suspension that is giving u issues.

It used to happen a lot when I had the stock head unit. Then when I bought my RCA I made sure it had anti-skip.

I'm gonna guess that the upper model range Pioneers have a better anti-skip mechanism than the lower ones (even if my 3900 was OK/not busted)?? Or am I wrong and they all have the same exact anti-skip across the model line up?

Pioneer is not high end, but very solid and reliable. Theoretically, you should have no issues. My guess is:
1. You have stock shocks, KYB or other junk
and/or
2. You have a defective HU

What kinda shocks you got? What kinda HU? Have you ever cleaned the laser? Has it always skipped or started recently?

We need these answered to help.

(Step 1, clean the CD head)

1. Nope. I have Koni DAs up front with GC coilover conversions/Eibach Race Springs (600 in.#), and a 1LE bar on ES poly bushing/endlinks, Koni SA (4th gen) with 150 in. # SSS springs (what comes in the GC kit) on GC 'weight jackers', with a 21mm 1LE bar on ES poly bushings/endlinks in the back.
The shocks are currently set all the way soft on compression, 4.5 sweeps from full soft on rebound in the front, and only a quarter turn from full soft rebound in the rear.

2. This is what I'm trying to determine. YES, I will try to clean the laser ASAP.
It does seem to have started recently. In fact, I was actually amazed that a unit this inexpensive was that good in anti-skip (when it was new). It was actually better than the higher priced Alpine 9853(?) I had previously and replaced with this Pioneer due to it being ripped off.
The Konis sometimes seem to be stiffer/rougher when the temps fall <40* so this may have something to do with it as well.
Thanks EVERYONE for all of the responses/input!

Nice suspension setup! Your springs are awfully stiff though, I think? Great for handling, not so much for CDs.

Let us know how the cleaning goes. You could always put some rubber washers on the mounting screws on the HU. That may make it a little loose feeling but may solve the problem. Worth a shot if the cleaning doesn't do it.

Let us know!
