Default ok, ive found a good HU

im going to be ordering an alpine cda-9886. my car came with an aftermarket stereo but its old. I want to replace my speakers because they sound horrible. I was just wondering if i picked out the right ones to fit in my car or if anyone could point me to some good speakers that go where theyre supposed to.

I am not a good speaker person so I am not going to tell you those are good or bad ones. I would do what homerun said....stick to the same brand all through out your car is what I would do.

i tried that. i ws going to do polk speakers all around. i picked out ones for the hatch panel, then when i was looking at components for the front door, they were like 250$. then i tried blaupunkt for my front door but they ones for the rear seat panels and hatch panels aren't rated very high (Customer ratings, not rms). i just thought itd be better to go with highly rated speakers rather than matching speakers that didnt have very good reviews.

are component speakers necessary for the front doors? could i just get some 2 or 3 way speakers in the door? is the sound really that noticably better when the tweeters are seperated?

i dont really like the blue lights either but its got all the features I want and it looks good. i was going to get the Alpine IDA-X001 but i'd like to have a cd player just in case something happens to my mp3 player. is it absolutely necessary for me to get components for the front?

I know both of my old Alpines had an option to change the color of the buttons but I'm not sure if the 9886 does.

I have the 9883, did you have that one by chance and change the button colors?

Getting back to your original question...no, those are not the correct speakers except for the 4" hatch speakers. Both the doors and the sail panels use 6.5" speakers and those are 5.25" - so they won't fit. Beyond that, if you still have the original Monsoon amp and speakers then they wouldn't work properly anyway. You would have to rewire them directly to the head unit or to an aftermarket amp.

There is a lot more information in the Monsoon FAQ sticky and dozens of other speaker selection threads.

thanks for the info. crutchfield sends free brackets so that they will fit, but i'm sure the sound wouldnt be as good as speakers that are the right size.

i just want some confirmation before i buy these because I don't want to buy the wrong stuff. I read the FAQs and the stickies so i'm pretty sure i got it right.
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...SPS17C2&tp=105 - Front speakers
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...3GTC652&tp=106 - Subs for the sail panels and the tweeters for the front door. (would hve gotten alpine but they were too expensive)
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...SPS10C2&tp=105 - Rear panels
If I have enough money I'll probably get a new amp. Thanks again. all your help is greatly appreciated.

Cool

You have to stick with older HU's for different illumination colors.
Like CDA-9833 and CDA-9835 they have 512 illumination colors, 9855 and 9815 have variable button colors (green/blue).

I don't remember which moddle was in my truck. It was stolen a few months ago but it was one of the 1½ din units they made a few years ago and I'm not sure which modle # is in my project car... I don't ever drive it anymore.

The 9885 had two different color options I believe. I even think a few of the newer models have dual color options (Green/Amber)

i think i'm actually going to go with the 9884. I can get it from amazon for 180$ shipped. that'll save me some money to get either better speakers or a small amp to power the speakers. Does anyone know if the speakers I mentioned in my last post will be good? Thanks for the help.
