Default midbass question

i ordered a component set, amp, wiring kit, and midbass set for sail panels and then realized i could have just gotten some coaxials for the sail panels. i was just wondering, if i get a sub later on down the line, will the bass be too overpowering?? should i return the midbass drivers for some coaxials? TIA

oh yea, and if anybody knows of a detailed write up for installing a 4 channel amp and bypassing the stock amp, thatd be great too.

Run the midbass now. When you get a real sub, listen to your system with the sub. If you think you'd prefer coaxials, then sell the midbass (or give them to a friend or whatever) and get coaxials then.

Do you have the stock head unit or aftermarket?

If you're going to run your fronts and sails with your own amp then just disconnect the plug from the Monsoon amp. Run your own RCAs to your amp. Don't use the hatch speakers. Unhook those even if you still use the Monsoon amp. They sound like crap, and even if you put good speakers in there, they will always sound like crap due to the location.

Oh, something I forgot to note: I ran my own speaker wires into my doors and that's what I recommend. If you don't do that, then you'll have to jump some wires in the monsoon harness, the info should be in one of the threads around here. But it was rather easy for me to get speaker wire into the doors. Getting it through the wire channel was quite simple.

alright, but i think im just going to use the wires that are already there. i also found a wire thats already under all the carpet and thought i would reuse it but i had a question. it has a terminal for the amp in the trunk but rca plugs on the other side of the wire. the amp wiring kit i got has the rca plugs on both sides of the wire and an extra wire. any idea if i can reuse that wire or not? if you can decypher what im trying to say, any help would be appreciated.

Just don't use the extra wire. You can cut it off or just leave it disconnected. Fuse holder should be within 12" of the battery (or alternator, or wherever your power wire hooks to).

Just use double sided tape and stuck it somewhere. Or zip tie it somewhere.
