Default How to mount Amp Rack?

Hey guys. I've had my amp rack from sub thumb in the car for a while now, just drilled into that plastic carpet stuff back there. magically, it's managed to hold it. But it isn't flush with the back of the car. What'd you guys use to keep it in place, self tapping screws? Also where did you screw them in.. I have some wires back there and im afraid of.. A. Drilling through a wire. and B. going to far through metal into my tail-lights. Where's the best place to screw this into!?

I made a couple of wooden brackets and used the 2 of the tail light studs on each side to hold them down and then mounted the amp rack using machine screws and steel threaded inserts epoxied into the brackets. It's been holding up for for 3 years now with no problems and didn't have to drill into the body.

Thanks. It's a lot. So much so that NASA called me and told me to hold off on buying anymore because they can't get enough to repair the space shuttle.

Mine are screwed in from the top with 2" self tapping screws. And then I have 2 more screws on the bottom holding them in. No problems here just make sure you mount in the correct spot

I only have a 450 watt JL Audio amp. I put the Dynamat in before the sound system so can't compare that. But adding Dynamat and Cascade deadening material to the doors made a huge difference in keep external noises out and making the doors feel really solid when closing them.

If I could give you some advice, Buy fatmat. Same thing as dynamat but so much cheaper. You can get around 100 SQ ft for 100 dollars.
