Default Get me in the 12's.... currently 13.299@104.33

Made some massive improvement to my ET today after swapping out my stock converter to the FTI SRLT 4000rpm hard hit which much better suits my cam and motor spec.

Shaved a whopping 0.81 off the old ET so I am now at

13.299@104.

The MPH hasn't improved, but the ET is waaaay better.

I'm getting some wheel hop off the line

Running
275/40r17 tires (normal street stuff - Kumhos)
4L80E and 4.10 gears

Shifting at 6780rpm and trap at 6300rpm

Still a very conservative 24 deg of ignition timing, I made some changes in preparation for my second run but had to abort due to dumping coolant on the start line.

Was thinking a set of Caltracs and some 275/50/15 ET Streets might sneak me into the 12's or is that optimistic?

Here's a video of my run today, you can't miss that wheel hop!

Had another go today, got the tires good and warm and managed to do 2 consistent runs of 13.08/13.1 @103.4

I am a bit disappointed in the MPH of the car - was hoping for a bit more.... there's still something not right. The best I have ever managed is 105.2 on a much cooler day.

need more info... this cant be the 80 with the lq9 heads/cam setup?? that setup should run 10's or damn close to it...

what car is this , what mods on the car , what type of weather /DA were you running it in and what does the rest of the time slip look like 60 foot time , 1/8 et and trap.

103/104 trap is stock ls1 traps

Yes it's the 80 in my sig. Not sure on the weight, carbon hood and bumper will save a load of weight off the front. But otherwise it's going to be at least stock weight, maybe around 3700lbs?

My compression ratio is about 10.5. 4.00" bore, 3.622" stroke, 5cc valve reliefs in pistons, .007" out of the bores at TDC, .055" head gasket thickness. Heads were milled .050" from stock. Stock chambers are 71cc, but after milling I make that 63.8cc (.007 per cc)

AFR's were good, 12.5-12.7. Ignition timing was at 25* for the second run at 13.08 @ 103.44

Air temps were high for the UK, around 30C, my intake air temp peaked at 40C. Elevation is around 100ft.

So, any advice welcome as I am disappointed at the moment....

Are you tuning the car yourself? Have you had it on a dyno? Are you data logging?

posting the 60 foot will tell us if traction is the problem , if your not doing 1.8 or lower that is a big contributor

and if your not gaining over 25mph between 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile traps then its not making good power up top for a heads/cam car

Can spec is in my signature.

My 60' is 1.80. I'll dig out the timing slip.

I'm tuning myself, ECU is MS3. I have done a number of motors with megasquirt over the years and always had good results.

Time slips would really help.

20 mph gain from 660 to 1320 is very weak can you feel it dropping off at any point ?

your whole time slip is pretty close to my old mild bolt on 3800/sc FWD buick something is holding you back power wise but also your 60's aren't good for a 4000 stall either I would expect 1.4 to 1.7 depending on tires , suspension, track prep with a heads cam setup

I'm part way putting a new exhaust on it - the old one was a bit rubbish but should have flowed ok.

I'm hoping to be out racing again next weekend if I can get a few little issues fixed, so I'll start playing with the ignition timing at that point and see if I can get some more power out of it.

It's only on street tires - 275/40r17, and the suspension is heavy duty (can't remember the rate) leafs and monroe sensatrac shocks. The car's set up for road use mostly.

get some 15"wheels with drag radials for the track and with a 2nd gen some cheap slapper style traction bars will help greatly with hooking it and keeping wheel hop away

No Joke, that hood scoop is killing you especially if its open.... 2 tenths there alone.

Outside of this have you dyno'd? Your trap is super low IMO. You should be picking up +25-30mph on the second half of the track. I would expect you to be mid 12's at the very least.

Oh, I haven't updated here for ages!

I've done a load of tuning and the car is now running 12.0 @115mph ! On street tires with a load of wheel hop!

115 mph is more like it. Sounds like it was all tune related then
