Installing my torque converter this weekend
Like the title says, I'm installing my circle d 3600 torque converter this weekend. You guys got any tips that could help me with the install? Should I use dex/merc? Anything would be helpful. Thanks

There might be good instructions somewhere on this forum, but I wrote them up in post #30 in this thread:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...t-drive-2.html
My instructions apply to an LS converter for a '98 or later LS engine and '98 or later 4L60E.
This is also a good thread on what not to do.
We just had a detailed thread on trans oil:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...4l60e-use.html
In summary if you need to go 100,000 miles on the oil, use GM's recommended Dexron VI. Anything less and the cheaper Dexron 3 is plenty good.
Let a quart of oil soak into the converter for a few minutes. You want to get a good amount in, but not so much that it splashes out when you turn it sideways to install.

Well, I'm at a stand still tonight. The torque converter bolts are Allen head style bolts. I have to go to autozone and see if they have a socket big enough to fit it. I also had the take the header off to get the starter off. FML, anyways hopefully tomorrow I can finish it up.

Weird on the bolts, mine were normal. Just make sure you get the tc seated in the trans and be sure to measure your spacing and shim if necessary.
GL with the bastard bolt on top...worst bolt on the whole car IMO. You might also consider replacing the rear main seal while your in there.

The converter bolts do have a spot on the head for a Allen key but you can also use a regular box end wrench on them. Atleast that's how it was on my car.

^Agreed. They typically have the allen head provision, and the typical bolt head style. So either method can be used to remove them. Make sure to be extra careful when getting the car up in the air, and supported. Never can be too safe!

Got the install finished. Haven't had a chance to take it out and see what it can do. I did drive it around the block though. You can tell its stalled now. Headers went on great too. The tsp y-pipe that people for some reason is having problems installing went on good too. Now for a tune. Thanks for the help guys.
