Stall Size, STR and MPG???
K guys im gonna be ordering my fuddle either today or tomorrow(gotta love being good at holdem )Anyways, John at Fuddle recommended a 3400 stall with a 2.1 str. Car has a lid, catback, 3.42 gears. My question is what will my around town mpg look like when all is said and done? Im not asking what going WOT is gonna do but what conservative around town driving will get me. Can i still be in the 16-18mpg range? The gears should help the car get moving a bit easier, but will a higher str actually help my mpg do to the fact that it will move in traffic with less pedal and lockup quicker?

Yes the STR can help a little. I think you could still crack 16 in the city but I doubt many people here get more than that.
My car spends about a 50/50 mix of city and locked up or highway use and I get 16 though I am untuned and A/F is off some.

I noticed no change in economy between stock and a
3000/2.2 converter. But if you choose maximum happy
foot all the time then you could expect to pay. If you
drive in low-slip as a rule, then it doesn't matter much
to MPG.

Anyone else? THinking of going 3400 but need opinions on str. Most likely going with a 2.1-2.3. I just want a tighter feel and maybe some mpg. Its a dd. I know people say if u want mpg drive a Honda but I like Camaros:-)

On the highway my car can still get 21 mpg and w/ a mix of city and highway it's around 17-18, but I had my car tuned after my header/converter install. I have a Yank SS3600 2.5 STR and I absolutely love it. I don't know if Fuddle converters are as efficient as Yank converters, but you really shouldn't lose too much on your mpg unless you have a heavy foot... Stall converters just take a little bit more gas pedal to get the car moving, so city driving is effected the most.

I have a Fuddle 3800 with a 2.3 str. It was just installed a few days ago and i love it. In fact I am about 200-300 rpm lower at 70 than I was with my Vigilante 2800 with a 2.5str.
Love the converter and it hits hard as hell. So, my freeway gas milage should go up and my city will go down a bit because of how loose it is off the line when easing into it.
Good Luck!

i ordered a 4000 stall with 2.4 str from fuddle. If you think traction will be a problem go lower on the str, if you will be setup for good traction, and wanna launch like a freakin rocket, go higher str. Either way ur gonna need some D/Rs to get a good launch
as far as gas mileage, it shouldnt change too much, unless ur driving habits do. The converter will stil lock up when you cruise so it'll should be the same, its just the stop and go stuff that might hurt ya a bit

I have that same conveter and I get about 20-24 with a 70% town 30% hiway mix when I drive like I have some sense. Which is about 1/2 the time. If I roll into it till it so that it's just on the verge of spinning I get about 14-16.

With stock converter and cam; I got as high as 27-29 Hwy. After cam/converter swap it dropped down to 23-25 Hwy which ain't really bad. The cam and city driving will effect mileage more. The 2.55 STR makes it feel tighter during city driving.
