yank or vigilante
I am debating on buying my first converter for my 1998 Z28 4l60E. The car is stock except for a Borla and it has the stock 3.23 gears. I would like to install all the bolt-ons and possibly headers and LS6 intake. I am stuck between the Yank SS3600 and the Vigilante 3200 or 3600(I hear the 3600 can be more like a 4000 though ). I also would like to upgrade to a good shift kit too. The car currently has about 65k and it is a daily driver. Will the stock 4l60e survive with the stall and a shift kit? I also will be installing a good trans cooler. Will the PCM need to be reprogrammed for the converter and shift kit too?
Thanks

I was always suggested no higher than a 2800 stall speed for a dd by all the pros. The life of your tranny depends on alot of things, but screw it, just get the stall. Transgo seems to be the norm for shift kits for the 4l60e. Yes, the pcm will need to be reprogrammed for a tc.

I liked the SS3200 on a stock cammed car. Now I put a cam in the car and need the 3600. Should have went with the 3600 from the start. 3600yank or 3200 vig. seem to be close from doing research. PCM programming will most likely be needed as well as a cooler. I didn't feel the the need for a shift kit after tuning, shifts are firm under throttle and normal at cruise.

I have a vig 3200, trans go shift kit and no pcm tuning thus far. I like the stall a lot, kinda wish I would have gone bigger but I was planning on spraying when i first bought it. Luckily I can get a free restall on the stall, but i just dont feel like taking it out and sending it in right now.

I have a Vigilante 3800 and it does flash to 4000 but driving around town its not a loose conveter I like it alot, its a very efficientconverter. I just wish I would have got the 3 disc instead of the single because you can lock the converter on the WOT at the track

get a ss4000 and call it a day...will be very tight on the street...my ss3600 needs less than 2K to get rolling and around 2200-2300 in average traffic...wish i went with a ss4000...oh well at least i didn't get the 3200
