Default Options for a TB?

Looking into bolting on a larger TB minimum 90mm. Can the ls2/ls3 tb bolt on the ls6? If so what mods are required (tb harness) etc?

Thanks,

Dave

No, ls1/ls6 throttle bodies are three bolt and ls2/3 are 4 bolt. Realistically with your mods it would be a complete waste of money to do a throttle body. If you really wanna do something with it get it ported.

What kind of power from a ported tb? Do they actually open up the diameter?

3-5 hp typically but you gain a tad bit of throttle response. Yes they shave away a decent amount of material and also polish it.

I have been debating on this mod for a while mike norris motorsports wants $164 for this tb mod exchange which would be convenient for a daily driver. I have seen posts where users have complained of issues where the drive starts to drive itself(too much air passing the blade on idle) but don't know where they had the porting done. With an exchange program you would have a day or two to try it out.

Default GM Intake Tests

Here's some good information.......... http://www.tpis.com/pages/2_17_06

One of the more popular TB "porters" has produced some real butchery. Caveat Emptor.

408_transam i think is his name on here, do a search he does port/polish, and powdercoat of the outside for 100 bucks + a core charge. I have seen them in person and they are about the best you can get IMO.

I havent spent the money for my mustang yet because that $100 could go towards a FAST which i need anyways since the LS6 intake is already maxed out.

port the ls6 throttle body and be done... you wont make much power with a fast... you have a intake and exhaust mods, even with the cam i would keep the ls6, ported the heads and then a 90 might be worth it... ls6 is a very proven intake... and keeps your port velocity up... ls6 will do great with all bolt ons and even with a cam. fasts are nice if you have already done ported heads and full bolt ons... and you are trying to squeeeeeeeeeeze that last little bit of power...

I disagree, im maxing out the ls6 intake on both my cts-v and my mustang. Both are cam only with stock heads. Without a cam I agree that a FAST isnt worth it.

I also have one (donor for the stepper motor and TPS for an NW102 ) that I'll let go for $45 shipped.

It needs a clean-up, but it's a pretty good core and anyone machining/coating one should strip it down anyway.

98silvermaro, buddy of mine had an lq9 ported 243s 224 228 600 600 113 cam motion cam ported stock tb slp lid stock maf pacesetters 1.75 headers and made 453 401... how is that a cam only car ran out?? just asking... i dont hate on fasts, but for the price for the gain... theres better areas that can be improved on overall performance...

I definetly agree that the return for the money isnt the best, hence why i dont have one on either car, all i was saying is you dont need aftermarket heads to make gains with a FAST. I would pick up around 20rwhp on both cars with a FAST 90/92/102. Only time id go with a fast is if i had plans to stay N/A and do a nice set of heads to try and squeeze out every little bit.
