Default pcm tuning

hello to ls1tech fam. i want to know is it possible to get a good, stand alone tune for lsx swaps, that are code free? if so who can make this a reality? i drove my base tune for a while(with codes) and decided to try a drive tune. the vehicle runs great but still throws codes such as o2 sensor codes, bank 1 & 2, and emission, purge evaporator codes. if the pcm is sending , that means there is a prob. rite? i have to look at my scanner to tell u the exact codes. any help is greatly apprecieated. keep wrenchin ls1tec fam.

Try posting this in the PCM Section. But depending on your software.. the vendor usually has a forum and other users tune files to look and try.

did you remove any of the smog equipement or is all the emission parts still there and connected ?

You can also get a mail tune with basic tune or minor tweeks.

Looking at the O2 codes, could you have a wiring issue? I guess it is possible to have the heaters burned out in all 4 sensors but seems unlikely unless they were all old sensors.

Sounds like the Tuner doesnt know what they are doing..those are extremely simple to turn off.

Are you running Rear O2's or anything for Emissions?

Default pcm tuning

at TS99SS147 please dont tell me i have a wiring issue. if it is a wiring issue how can i fix it? also the o2 sensors are the sensors the vendor recommended. they cost $95 dollars each. at thompson, im running only the front o2 sensors(upstream). thompson i have no evap stuff installed. im currently using the truck intake. at the_merv, im using only upstream o2 sensors. turn these codes off? to anyone, how do i fix this? im almost at the point of buying a new harness/pcm or carb this MUG.

The fix is to get a tuner that knows how to turn off the error codes for the stuff you don't run.

Does the pink wire on your O2 Sensor Connectors have 12v power with the key on?

Yes, definitley find a tuner that knows how to turn the error codes for the emmission stuff off! I thought that was the easiest part of tuning?

Also do check for power to the O2 sensors. Are you sure you have the correct O2's for your wiring harness? There are 'case grounded' and 'PCM grounded' sensors, maybe they're not grounded?

Default pcm codes

ls1nova71/the_merv, thanks for the responses. so basically for the evap codes:p0443,p0449,p0452, just have a tuner turn that part of pcm off, rite? i got that. now for the o2 sensor, i bought the 02 sensors the vendor recommended($95 each). the o2 sensors r for a 2004 silverado. (4 wires) im thinking (1) should be ign. power, and (1) should be ground. the others (2) should be connected to the pcm. tell me if im on the rite track. i guess i should look for info on where and how the o2 sensors are wired in the harness. my harness is a dbw set up. i dont know if that matters any. thanks. i guess i got a lil work to do. any additional info will be greatly appreciated. and thanks again.
p.s. ls1nova71 whats brewing in the garage? its summer and im waiting for another great build from, you.

You have the right idea about the O2 Sensors..check the pink wire for 12v power.

Yes, any code can be turned off/on in the PCM, that's prob the easiest thing with tuning..

Sorry, not trying to worry you about the wiring. Like others were saying, check your power to the O2's. If you are only using the upstream sensors, the rear ones should have been eliminated in your tune. The heater function is to get the engine into closed loop faster if I'm not mistaken. That means the O2's can be monitoring the exhaust but not have the preheat function working. Also as posted, there are different O2's depending on the LS engine and PCM being used. Hope this helps.

Even though the harness was good when you installed it, it could have gotten burned by the headers if not laid out in the best route or rubbed by a body panel which could give you errors for the O2 sensors. I would trace back from the O2's to the PCM and make sure they have power at the same time.

I was getting some odd problems that started after the Thunderbird got wrecked. I discovered a ground wire and a relay had been damaged in the wreck. Once I fixed them the car drives like new - well newly swapped which is better than new.

As mentioned before, the EVAP and bank * sensor 2 codes should be simply disabled in whatever tune software. I know in HP Tuners it takes me longer to find the proper code(s) that it does to disable them.
