Default What are the top 10 non-GM LS swaps?

I am doing some research for a magazine story, and I want to get of of your opinions. What would you guys say are the top-10 non-GM swap platforms? I know the Z-cars (240, 280, etc), E46 BMWs, and jags are popular, along with the RX7s, but what else? Please rate them by what you think are the top platforms. If you have examples, include links or pics. If you want to list more than 10, go for it!

If by popular you mean done in large numbers I think you hit the major ones. I think you would have to add to the commonly done list Nissan 240sx's and Mustangs see I see a lot of build threads for both of those.

Jags and BMW's have been done but they are not that common. Miatas you see fairly commonly and they enjoy excellent aftermarket support, but can't say they are super common. S2k's are really rare.

Off road and boats have to be pretty common too. They make good sandrail motors.

Well my vote go to 1981 Turbo Trans Am. The only turbo V8 car the GM ever produced! I swapped a turbo LQ4 in mine and love it. Never could get that carb, turbo301 pontiac engine to run right. The rest of the car was dead on, but now with the upgrades, it perfect! Last thing it needs is the orginal paint, and decals.

S10, Mustang, Sandrails (although I'm not really sure if that would be considered a swap)

I would like to see more of the cobras utilizing the LSx power plant.

Thanks guys, I am getting some good feedback, I really appreciate it. As for some links, do you guys have some links to build threads or websites for specific builds that are pretty stellar? Also, I will be looking for some build details if any of you have a build coming up and want to get it featured, let me know. You can email me (for specific projects) at Jefferson@bryantmedia.us

Well...going by the seemingly endless build threads here I would say the top 5 are:
Mustang GT
Mustang LX
Mustang Coupe
Mustang Cobra
And finally...Mustang... rounds out the top 5.

Porsche 944's are starting to catch on. Stock motors are retarded expensive to replace the 944 turbo Cars are usually well kept.

I know of at least 10 Studebakers with LS motors. Certainly there are more. Probably not a significant number in the overall count of swaps.
