I have modified the Team Z mounts and they are ugly as **** so when I get the motor where I want it my buddy is going to duplicate what I have, except it will look better. Had considered putting 3/8" spacer btwn K and frame but don't want to loose ground clearance.

I'm sorry but this Team Z K member is way off from putting the engine where it needs to be. I know I'm doing a lot of custom **** but the basics are not being met. The engine is too high and too far forward PERIOD.
Spacers between K member and body won't change ground clearance. It will add room in your tunnel because it spaces the body away from power train.

Since I have coilovers, the k member will be spaced that much lower to the ground unless I want to keep the front end jacked-up.

All you're doing is raising the body, honest. Read what Maximum Motorsports and UPR say about their spacers. Think of it this way, no one installs a lift kit on a truck to lower their frame because it doesn't, it raises the body. You may have to readjust front to rear ride height with coil overs.

Yes, initially it raises the body and gives you clearance in the engine bay and tunnel. Then when you adjust ride height you lower everything including the K member/engine. When you put a body lift on a truck, only the body is lifted. If you were able to then adjust ride height, everything would be lowered together.
I used to hate to see trucks with the huge body lifts but then the suspension was still scraping the ground.
My headers will be low enough as it is. I'm not willing to loose any ground clearance if I don't have too. The spacers aren't completely off the table though.

Let the car down off the jack stands and rinsed the it off last night. Gotta start working on narrowing the rear end some time. Stifler's transmission crossmember will be here tomorrow and I will have to fabricate monts for it.

Stiffler's transmission crossmember came in today. I was surprised that it was smaller than I thought it would be but it is heavy duty and very well engineered.

Since the T56 is longer than any other transmission that has been in the car, the crossmember has to be relocated. When I was working on the motor mounts I had the transmission jacked up to the tunnel so when I bolted the crossmember on it lined up perfectly with the rear of the original mounting bracket. Now I have to fabricate new crossmember mounts.

I finished the transmission crossmember mounts this week and pulled the engine and transmission out today. I have decided to take Tims advice and modify the oil pan to give more clearance btwn pan and k member and move the engine forward 1/4"-1/2".

Didn't the Stiffler's crossmember seem just a bit off where the trans mount bolts up? It was for me and I have to change the angle of the tab as it points downward too much at the back of it, or, slot the front body mount holes to allow it to rock forward and send the tab upwards in the back, either way it wasn't right for my set up.

Never mind, I just noticed the tab on yours is welded to the opposite side, completely different part I guess.

Yeah, I talked to Brian at Stiffler's and he sent me the one that has the mounting pad on the front. The '79-'81 mustang has the narrow mounts on the floor pan and I used part of the factory mounts. I bolted the crossmember to the transmission and welded the rear mounts on each side and drilled holes. I was able to compensate for any weird angles. You can see that in the picture.

Yeah, that came out nice for sure. Not sure what the ears welded to the Stiffler cross member is about, exhaust hanger maybe? I won't be using them if so.

I asked Brian if the tabs were exhaust hangers and he said some people have used them for that but they actually bolt to the FITSystem some way.
