Lots of people have removed or cut-up the X-brace when adding headers.

hmm..i have true duals and i didn't have to cut up the x-brace. I also just had some BMR SFC's welded on last week and everything fit fine, they really stiffened up the car too

I would like to see this X-Brace that people reference on the convertibles. On 98+ cars I have never seen and OEM one before. There is however the brace after the transmission that often gets removed for duals. It's just a straight beam.

Here is a post I put up on the differences between the chassis supports of a vert and coupe.

I took that piece of plastic off when I put my dumps on. Didn't really make too much of a difference to me cause I have weld-on SFCs. You should be good

I was wondering which sfcs would fit with an xpipe too. I have TSPs duals and there doesnt seem to be much room to fit them under there. As for that x brace, if youre just talking about that little piece of stamped metal I removed that w/o seeing any difference. Honestly I dont see how something that filmsy could do much to the forces on the cars anyway.

It's not a brace, its more of a driveshaft catcher. Mine is gone, it rattled like a bastard after I put my longtubes on.

When I put my LT/ORY on i left mine off. I didn't even check to see if it would fit back on. I haven't noticed a difference and its been months.

I'm taking my X-Brace off tonight. it hits the exhaust pipe when I hit the gas and I get a little clunk noise. Don't take mine to the track or do hard cornering so its gone. I'll be happy to take pics if anyone wants to see it?

I have weld-on BMR's and they fit in there perfectly. I didn't want to do anything that could potentially come loose. Those things help out alot!!

And your right that brace didn't do anything but to help the car not twist when you ran it into redline...of which you can help out with SFC's and other suspension pieces.

Quick Reply: who else have the True dual setup. and removed the x-brace
