Default 3.42 to 4.10 gear results!

So I recently found some 4.10 gears for $50, decided to jump on it and install them.

Im pretty happy with results for the price I paid. All suggestions are welcome how to improve my times.

The DA was around 2300

Tire pressure was the best around 23.5 hot.

I did hear my tires spin on the 1st 2nd shift so I am loosing some time there.

I make similar power as you with my HCI build, and love my 4.10's. Are you on street tires?

I am on Nitto 555r's, they suck at the track. I am thinking of getting some slicks, too much work launching on these. Also was wondering what a 28" tall tire would do with 410 gears, I will have to do so research.

Looks like the majority you gained was from the better launch.

.4 is about what I attribute to the better launch.

I say its a combination. My first pass with the new gears was a 2.19 60 ft, 12.62 ET, 118.11 mph. 1/8 mile ET 8.38 at 91.65 mph.

Well I run the 555R's too, so I know exactly what you mean! I drop my pressure to around 17lbs, and heat them up good. Are you on the stock suspension too?

.1 in the 60 is roughly .2 on the big end.

With those tires and suspension I personally think 1.8 60ft is within total reason. Hopefully i'll be able to comment more when I get to the track

1.8 should easily be attainable with a good launch.

I did a 1.87 on one run so its possible.

So i have a couple ideas to make it faster, let me know what you think. I would like to know which one is best for the money. I know when i shift that the tires are chirping so it is slipping, losing some ET.

- Install lower portion of FTRA, i took it off as the motor was getting hot with this one.(FREE)
- 28" tall tire, slick on 15" rim?
- same as above plus skinnies
- Chris1313 ram air?
- Strange S60 with different gear? dont think this will make it any faster but would be able to launch harder with a slick
- different intake manifold and TB
- SD tune?

Definately get a Chris1313 and some bigger tires on the back. A fast intake will be good also while you are at it!

Get a shift light ASAP! I thought I was good at hitting the gears, man I was wrong. On my first pass with the H/C setup I went 12.7@113, DA 2500. A few weeks later I went back to the track with a shift light and went 12.1@117. I installed 4:10s and went 11.9@120 on the 10 bolt, full street trim in good weather. I was running BFG Drs.

I have 2 shift lights, the harlan and the aeroforce, shift light is set at 6600. If i set it at 6800 i hit the rev limiter.

I was also thinking of remove the following since its all free:

- rear seat
- front passenger seat
- spare tire and jack
- catback behind y pipe, less weight, hopefully more power
- disconnect front swaybar.

I know there is more i can get out of this setup without spending any more money. How much do you think I would gain with the above, .1 or .2?

you might want to just remove the front bar and get some weight transfer going on.

Remove front sway, awesome weight transfer and your front suspension will ride smoother than a caddy

You def. gained MPH from the gears. 3.42's for a cammed car are terrible. Your improved 60' wouldnt do anything for MPH. Any time ive spun at the track my MPH was higher.
