Need help ASAP w/ QA1's
I posted this in suspension also, but I need an answer fast so i thought I would post it here also.
Just installed the QA1 front suspension on my car. Went in great and took it out to test it and when I go over anykind of bump it is clunking from the front end. So I looked at and checked over all my work and everything is tight. But when u load and unload the suspension the shock it self is moving a 1/2 inch or so. Why is this and everything is tight! Only thing I can't check is the nut on top of the shock, which should not have came loose in the first place.
Help me please, need to run at the track tomarrow.

Also, they are 275 LB springs and the car sits at about stock height. Now someone mentioned on here that they had the adjuster about 2inches from the top of the body of the shock or 2inches of threads left. Well I have about 3 inches, maybe a little less of threads showing, but If I go any higher the car will be taller in front then in the rear.

I did some research and I'm almost positive that I am missing parts from my Generation F kit. If u could chime in and let me know what all came in ur kits to compare, that would be great.

I had the same question about how high to turn the nut on the springs. You want them to be 7 to 7 1/2" measured from the threads up to the bottom of the spring seat nut. don't know about the knocking noise.

Are you 100% sure it is the shocks? Try checking to see if anything else is loose up front. I installed mine and it seemed pretty straight forward, not much you can do wrong. Mine have never clunked. I would get it back up and check everything in the area the noise is coming from, checking for anything loose. Good luck.

I have checked to see if something was bottoming, checked stuff I never loosened, I even called QA1's tech line and they have never heard of such a thing and couldn't even point me in a direction. Also, I told him everything that my kit included and he said that it was all there. Would a video of the noise and maybe some footage of what is going on under neith help? I could probably do that, I'm desperate to fix this. I actually have driven and it seems fine but it sounds just like the shocks are not tight and the top of the shock is hitting the top if the fender well and making a metal to metal clunk. How tall do U guys have ur cars sitting w/ this kit w/ a 275 pound spring. Mine is maybe a 3/4 to a inch lower then stock.

Also, I had Eibach sportlines in my car and it never made a clunk or anything, now it does right after I did this install w/ the QA1's. So i know the culprit are these shocks. If it was bottoming, what would it first? I have been under and watched, I have had others under and they looked to see what was clunking and no one can figure this out.

Is it possible you got a bad shock? I know it seems like a lot of work but you could switch sides and see if the problem still exists with the same shock or the same side. It would narrow things down a lot.

you said there was no more thread left to tighten the nut on the top part of the shock. Did you first install the rubber bushing than the nuts, easy to mess that up(i almost did it) and that would explanin why you could move the shock up and down. How much up and down movement do you have 1/2" or so, i would say the bushing is installed wrong...
