408 with spray at that weight should get you there and will be the cheapest route.

IF you wanna go the cost effective route then go with the 408 and spray.. IF not, TURBO all the way!

If you are truely at 2900 lbs a F-1 will put you in the 8's for sure. You only need ~800 HP. I weighed exactly 3000 and ran 9.31 in my slow car with 750 HP. A F-1 can make ~1000 HP. One issue, I don't know if that trans will last. I started breaking 350's at low 10's. That was many many years ago, so I know they are better, but 8 seconds better, I'm not sure. You better ask some experts 1st.

You will need a good chassis for 8's also.

Good luck.

If you ask me, I like blowers better than turbo's. The turbo guys seem to have a lot more problems, and had trouble being consistant that I've seen. I'm no expert, maybe all the turbo guys I've ran into were newbe's

I'll be in the 8s @ 3400lbs soon with a 346, .550 lift cam with single springs, stock pushrods, unported heads, LS6 intake/stock TB and a F1A. Nothing hard about it

Go with what you can afford. Maximize your setup (suspension, trans, etc.) or you will regret it.
