What weight oil for the boosted guys.??

Man, Im pulling my hair out here. I've had the front of the motor apart more times then I want to count. The little freeze plug style restrictor just behind the timing chain cover seems to be fine. I have the correct o-ring on the oil pump pick-up tube. I installed the restrictor in the oil supply line to the turbo hoping that would help, and I still have the same issue. I crank the car up cold and have great oil pressure, but as soon as the car warms up the pressure drops off the about 15 lbs at idle, and if Im driving and let off the throttle like to come to a stop the oil pressure drops off low enough to get the check guages light....

I have not read your oil pressure thread so im not sure if this was mentioned. But,do you have a dual roller timing chain? If so you probably spaced out your oil pump. If so you could have installed the spacer on the driver side upside down. I did this when i put my turbo motor together and i had great pressure at cold start up,then it would go to like 20psi at idle and only 45psi at wot.
Just a thought

M1 15w-50 has given me the best oil pressure under duress.
... Running a Mocal oil pump and an electric scavenger pump through my motor, my turbo, and an oil cooler.
With the **** beaten out of it good, it'll keep 40 psi at idle now.
I would freakin vaporize 5w-30, getting some really low oil pressure but not like the OP.

You shouldn't have to run 20/50 to maintain good oil pressure, thats just a band aid. I run 10W40 and maintain 40 psi at idle when hot. I drive my car in cooler temps and having seen what 20W50 looks like at 30 degrees ambient I could never trust my motor to it. Its like hot vaseline. Unless I lived in an area with super high temps I'd never run 20W50.

And there's no issue to bandaid... When I ran 15w-40 (Rotella), I'd keep good oil pressure too, about 35-38 after a beating... That's not bad. But with 15w-50, I keep 40 psi when really hot... I probably wouldn't use it in cold weather though, but I don't know what cold weather is.
