Ive always wondered that if a trans can blow up and go THROUGH the metal floorboard, and have the potential to supposedly cut someone's leg off, how is a trans blanket going to stop it? What are those things made of?!

Yea, I was thinking that was probably it.. Still tho, I'd like to see how well they actually hold up. I mean, do they stop the trans parts from going thru the blanket, or does the blanket just shred, but take enough of the inertia out of the shattered parts to not go through the floorboard?

I am going to call bullshit that they were just sitting idling in the parking lot. They are at the track, and there are numbers on it. They had to be testing something, I doubt it had a trans brake, but brake torquing it or something in the parking lot. That had some force behind it.
And yes it is mandatory to have a blanket/shield on a higher hp car, even besides the fact that the NHRA makes you have one.

I have both a trans blanket AND a bell housing blanket. Ive heard too many stories of clutches exploding coming up through the car through the windshield. Rather be safe than sorry.

Do you have any clearance issues in the T/A with the blanket?
