Default Thoughts on 383 with SMALLER turbo?

For those not familar, my setup is a 9:1 383 w/ a T76GTS turbo, T56 w/ southbend clutch, ported LQ9's with smaller reverse split turbo cam, 3" DP tp 3.5" overaxle, etc. Running ~7psi car makes ~630rwhp. I like where the car is and how it runs and dont feel the need to turn up the boost.Car has great lowend and spools ~2500rpms.SO, with that in mind, if you were to plot it on a compressor map, its not even on the island since my pressure ratio isnt high enough for that turbo. My though is that i could swap to a smaller turbo (discussed with DR. Turbo and agreed on a TC72) and it would be more efficient thus making about the same power, but the turbo would light up like a light switch.I would venture to say almost like a roots type setup. Thoughts?

I say leave your setup alone. It sounds bad ***, as is.

Smaller turbo will spool up a little quicker, but is it worth the cost to go from a 76 to a 72?? It might be like going from a 3.23 rear gear to a 3.42. Not Much..

I would leave it alone, when do you race below 2500rpms??? Or do you plan on heavy towing?

I would move the boost curve down on the 76, via a divided housing and quick spool valve first.

put a small shot of gas on it and let it eat, lol. i vote for leaving it alone as well. it would suck to spend the money and then the car make less power.

I think it would be quite a difference between a Precision T76GTS and a TC72.
The car is 3900lbs with me in it.I guess my thought process was off idle and what not.Possibly better gas mileage being more efficient, etc. I do have a 2 step now for launching so i guess thats not a big deal.Just thinking i supppose.

If you really want to spend some money to make your turbo setup "better", buy an automatic transmission.
