Default 10.5 compression with forged pistons=good or bad? 15#

I am thinking of buying a shortblock and was told with 317 heads and the combo below the compression should be around 10.4.

I want to run a procharger about 15#

the combo is 408

LQ4 Iron Block
Eagle Forged Crankshaft
Eagle H-Beam w/ ARP Rod Bolts
Forged Wiseco 4.030" -3cc Flat Tops
Total Seal Plasma rings
Comp Cams 54-463-11 (247/255 .624"/.624" 114 LSA)
SLP P/P Oil Pump
LS2 Timing chain set
New cam/main bearings
Balanced

if i put 317 heads can i get it to 10.4 or lower?

i want to run 13-15#boost procharger

Is this a bad idea....it seems people are running higher compression these days?

FWIW i was running a static CR of 10.6 on a 370 with no IC and up to 24* of timing without any problems

6.0L, iron block, 10.7 comp, 10# boost, 76mm, rear mount turbo, no intercooler, snow meth, 25*, pump gas, & still got more in it.
the compression makes for instant throttle response, especially with it being rear mount, but it's as responsive as alot NA setups

i also know a guy with a GTO, 427", 10.6, F1 PC, 19# boost, pump gas, with very low timing.

On my old I had a 383 at 10.9 and ran 13psi with a Vortech without issue.

itll be fine as long as there is no detonation, which is harder to keep away at higher compression levels. itll be fine though, 10.4 isnt too much at all.

Make sure you run GOOD fuel in it, a meth kit would help too, and the tune is the key to doing this. I personaly wnat to go to 12 or 13:1 with 20 to 25 psi on my next build. Of course not with pump fuel.

I agree, run methanol injection with it and you should not have any problems. Bob

Run E85 and it would be sweeeeet. You could even get away with some 241s or 243s on there.
