Default Going to try a little camshaft experiment..

Since the big/small FI cam debate always seems to end in a stalemate or dyno numbers I figured since I was a little bored I'd step up my cam by around 10 degres @ .050 and see what happens. The car ispretty consistant and I will be able to tell right away whats going on after a couple passes.

Old cam was a 222/228 comp XE, .550 lift, 115LSA

New cam is one of EPPs FI cams, 232/240 XER lobes, .600 lift, 115LSA

Duration ar .006 isnt as large of a spread, 275/281 old cam to 281/289 due to the quicker XER lobes.

Hoping to finally take advantage of my big exhaust and the AFR 225 heads and be able to take advantage of the F1A as well and hopefully not lose too much on the 60 foot. I'm curious to see what happens, going to run it with the D1/3.7 pulley tonight. Should sound a little better then the old can anyhow, just waiting a little bit before I fire it up and wake up the neighbors

I will suspect in your situation (Drag Racing) that you will pick up a bit. I am curious to see your results also. Good luck with the new cam.

Well it all depends on the 60 foot which my car is very dependant on. I'm hoping to pack a little more up top but hopefully not lose too much down low.

Plus I'm starting to feel bad having a low 9 second car at the track and no panty dropping idle

I could, if I had a turbo I'm trying to decide if I should run the Year one thing in the 1/4 mile this weekend (DOT tires and most likey I'll run 10.0 index so not much experimenting) or just hit a local 1/8 mile track with both blowers and some wrenches. Got some good weather rolling in..

That should be a good comparison. I was thinking about going bigger too. An idle sound clip would be nice too, after you wake up the neighbors.

Looking forward to the results. I would hit the 1/8 mile unless the Year One event has a 9.5 or quicker class.

In honddar world we get really good results with larger all-motor camshafts on turbo vehicles. I was questioning whether the v8 crowd is just a whole diffrent ball game or if the old " high lift, low duration for turbo cars " is just a big myth.

Heading out now, they have an 'open' class there but last year they had a couplemid 8 second cars that kind of dominated. i'll stay into it on the time runs tonight/tomorrow and we'll see how it does, I dont know how these tires are going to hook though. It sounds good if anything
