I use Modil 1 fully sinthetic in my car and truck. Thats all i've ever used. They say sinthetic oil will give you some extra horsepower. Not sure if its true or not.

Valvoline Racing straight 30w, warm weather driving only. Ran Mobil-1 in my 88 IROC after the first 1000 miles, switched to straight 30w after the pressure at idle was kinda low after about 10K miles. Pressure came right back up and it ran exactly the same times as with the synthetic.

I've refused to use synthetic since, but thinking about trying Royal Purple XPR 20w-50 in my racecar.

There are many threads on here discussing this topic if you search. GM recommends using mobil 1 5w30. Many people, including myself, use german castrol 0w30. Others like to use a thicker mobil 1 i think its 10w40? Anyways go to www.bobistheoilguy.com if you really want to know about oil analysis and how the oil breaks down over time.
