cig lighter for electric cutout... yes/no?

cig lighter for electric cutout... yes/no? got a dmh electric cutout and i think i got everything figured out as far as installing and running the wires.... just need to know if i can use the cigarette lighter for both the power and the ground? and if not then what is a good power source? thanks

I have mine mounted in the power seat, feeding off the power and ground from the seat power (spliced in). If you don't have a power seat then just go with the option you thought of already.

well i wired my dmh cutout up to the black/orange wires today on my cigarette lighter then plugged up the cutout to test it.... u can hear the motor turn for a sec then stop and the blade twitches for a split second like its trying to open then nothing, it just stops.... what the hell is wrong?? not enough juice? somebody please help me out

I just installed my QTP electric cutout using the cigarette lighter Orange cable for power and using the bolt that holds on the shifter boot cover for ground. Everything seems to working as it should be.
I did notice 2 things that raises concern.
1) The switch that opens and closes the electric cutout is pretty worm. Is this normal ?
2) This cigarette lighter wire always has power to it, so the cutout is consistently under power. I thought that's what we are trying to avoid. I noticed this because my QTP switch has a amber/green light/LED at the tip of the switch, and its always on. Will this cause a problem with draining the battery ?
Has anyone else had similar symptoms ?

Moved the hot wire off the cigarette wire to the ASR pink wire. This makes more sense this way.

is anyone else getting LOTS of RASP around 2k - 3k RPM range ? I have long tubes with no cats and im getting all sort of RASP between that RPM range. Sounds horrible, but there after it sounds good.

I wired mine to the little light in the cig. ashtray. You gotta have your lights on to open the switch but no big deal there. I had a ton of drone around 1800-2200 RPM's so I got a Loudmouth, much better now.
