Default Maybe buying new headers, SLP headers question.

My current Pacesetters are rusting alot due to the salt in my area and my pacesetter Y-pipe bangs more than a dc prostitute. I'm considering buying new SLP tuned length headers with cats or the new ones with the cat and pipe. How are they on your cars, does the y-pipe bang on the floor at all? any rust on the stainless or imperfections over time? I hear the clearance is a little tight on speed bumps but my car isn't lowered and I don't have many issues with my current pacesetters going over bumps.

I vote for LPP. Best bang for your buck out there.

Yea don't bother going SLP tuned length that's what I run. Numbers are in the sig. I don't have any ground clearnce issues or floor board banging either.

+1 go with kooks or qtp they are a little less expensive then slp, but have a much better track record, they also dont make outrageous power claims. I have a set of kooks and love them, no banging.

Honestly, for the outragous $$$ you pay for QTP's or Kooks you BETTER not have a problem with them.

I havent seen a dyno comparing tuned vs. non-tuned length LT's, but Hookers are tuned length just like SLP and are much less.

I dont have any LT's as im still saving up $$ to buy some.

Honestly, SLP headers are pricey but too me it's worth the money. With the new redesigned headers, I have no ground clearence issues and the y pipe doesn't bang. I had mine for over a year and dd my car, no rust. This just based on my experience with them on my car. Good luck with what you decide.

SLP is interesting because it's stainless with ceramic coating to keep the heat in the engine compartment down.

I went with Jet Hot LT's and had no real issues. I'm satisfied with them, but I have heard nothing but great things about American Racing Headers. The price makes them more than just an upgrade. They're really more an investment. If I should have to replace my Jet Hots, I'll be going with ARH.

hmmm so I see Kooks seems to do well... I guess i'll avoid the SLP's. Anyone have any recommendations on gaskets to go along with them?

I ordered a set of gasket from the dealer for $30.00. I would go that route. You can reuse your factory exhaust manifold bolts.

Just another option you could send your Pacesetters out to Swaintech for coating. I dont care where you live the coating process is amogst the best on the market. My buddy had his Pacesetters done by them and they look awesome. My Swaintech coated headers are 7 years old and still look great.

Do NOT get SLP headers. There is no clearance whatsoever.

My car is stock height and there is no room whatsoever.

Don't say I didn't warn you!

holy crap that is low ground clearance. I would re-coat the headers but they just aren't worth me dedicating any money to them they rattle too much and weren't very good quality out of the box. They had a pin ***** size hole in them right out of the box which was mostly just annoying.

I got ARH and they fit great. I also had solid mm"s and catted y and they don't bang at all. Didn't have to modify anything to get the headers to fit. Definately a good investment.

Just to let people know, the Y pipe banging is usally from worn motor mounts, get poly mounts.
