Long tube headers need another Y pipe. The stock one will not fit.

If you are on a budget, you may look at the do-it-yourself ceramic coating from Eastwood. You also need a new Y-pipe, the stock pipe will not fit up to the headers. I've heard really good things about the Pacesetters. Go ahead and get their Y pipe. Or if you know a good muffler shop, they could make one up for you, but I doubt it would be as cheap as the Pacesetter Y pipe. Also check Texas-speed.com they have their own Y pipe for $129 that fits the Pacesetters, plus they sell the uncoated Pacesetters for $270, Good luck.

Being in cali you might want to get some cats as well to avoid harassment. Just incase you don't know, even with cats you will fail the visual inspection.

im not worried about failling the visual, it the actual emission test that im worried about. does the y pipe have the cats on it?so with the Y pipe i need the ones that come with cats or can i some how get the stock cats welded back onto the new y pipe(remember im on a tight budget)? dont i also need the o2 extensions. so is pacesetter better than flowtech. i dont think i need them coated since my car is garaged and i live in socal, and its not my daily driver, right

You will need to buy a catted-y, stock cats won't work. You will need at least 1 o2 extension also, and sims for the rear o2's.

you'll either need to buy the y pipe or make a custom one. Just for another opinion, I've had huge fitment problems with my pacesetters. They bang against the k-member and the bottom of the body beneath the driver's side. Grinding the k-member solved that problem, but I've tried lots of things (including the thunder racing bumpstop) and haven't been able to fix it hitting under the floor. I hear other brands don't have this problem as often, but I don't know.

so my best bet would be pacesetter lt's($279) with a TSP catted y ($349) with o2 ext. ($20) and O2 sims ($89), anything else?

That would prob do it. I did the install with my Pacestters about a month ago. It was sweet. I have heard of fitment probs with old pacesetter LT's. Not the new ones. Actually, with my setup there was a good 3/4 of an inch if not more of clearance around the K member and I picked up just under an inch of ground clearance on the driver side part of the Y which is SWEET cause im lowered.

Yeah, LT's and highflow cats fail the visual.

The install wouldn't be that bad, but I would never install anything but stainless or coated (my SLP headers have both) as they will look like crap in a couple weeks.

Turn the couch upside down...steal from one of your loser ricer buddies...whatever you have to do to get coated headers. You will kick yourself if you don't

Does Texas do a visual inspection of the exhaust? Will LT's fail? I'm taking my car back to Texas after I graduate and I put on LTs and an ORY (I'm ordering one I can swap out every year with stock cats to pass the sniffer) and it would really **** me off if they wouldn't let me pass because my headers are too long.

I've never had a problem because of long tubes. No cats they will most likley catch though. FYI you can not put stock cats on LT's, you will have to put the stock manifolds back on too.
Most places in TX have no sniffer, it's only in certian counties.

Are the gaskets that come from PS and the stock bolts good enough or should you get better parts to install with the headers?

its best to buy better header gaskets, but the ones included work too (just not as reliable as better brands)

instead of buying to extensions i would recommend getting some rear 02 sensor from a corvette 97-05, if you use the extensions youll start to get ses codes and theyll come on everytime even if you reset the codes.
