getting ready to install Pacesetter LT's. any advice?
i just bought some pacesetter lt's. i plan on installing them within the next couple weeks...actually as soon as they get here. i bought pacesetter lt's, pacesetter ORY, and an slp lm1 catback. i heard there was no modifications needed for pacesetters and install was great. just want to get some reassurance. is there anything in particular to watch for? how long should i expect to take? are pacesetter's really as easy to install as i've heard?
also, what all do i need?
header gaskets?
o2 extensions?
o2 sims?

Only thing to watch for is you MIGHT have to grind off the tab on the block on the driver's side, it's tough to explain, but you'll know EXACTLY what I mean if it gets in your way. How long? Depends on how easy the old **** comes out. My dipstick was a **** head and didn't wanna come out, so it took me 12 hrs (wasted 5hrs trying to get the ****** out). Is the install as easy as you've heard? IMO you shouldn't have much trouble if you are fairly mechanically inclined and resourceful. You CAN reuse your stock gaskets, but I just got new stock ones. You dont NEED sims, you can just have them tuned out if you wish, all you'll get is an SES light if you don't. Have fun, hope you like loud

EDIT: No I did NOT have to modify my ACTUAL headers, those slid in just fine. Can't comment on the y-pipe, I have the TSP duals.

I woukld suggest putting aside 5-12 hoursw for the install..depending on where/how you r doing it...I as well as many others on the board here suggest ...part # 13111 Bosch Rear 02 sensors..they have a wider heat range....I as well as others have used them and no codes have appeared compared to stock 02's.

when u are ready to actually put them in...point the collector[end of header] towards the ground and then when it is up there rotate it to normal position....i think all them go in easier this way......some people remove coil packs...i didn't and it is really only better to if you have very large hands ...helpful though for tightening bolts, although I think it is extra work/confusion. IMO.

I did not rremove the oil filter on my install (different headers though). Take your time, if it's your daily driver, start early as possible on Saturday morning.. that way you have the weekend to make it driveable.

I did not have to take my filter off, and my header didnt toe outwards that I noticed but I'm sure it will be fine.
Now the dipstick on the other hand.. Took 3 people to get that little thing out.

dude I have installed a few sets of pace setters and never one had to grind the block, remove oil filters or anything like that. you have to do to clear that tab on the block is remove a piece of heat shield and then put a 2x4 on the oan and jack the motor up about 3/4 inch (assuming you still have rubber motor mounts) it usually takes me about 15 minutes total to slip the new headers in and get a couple bolts started.

ok first take out all the old ****. then get the front end so the front wheels are probibly 10 inches off the graound. then pull the heat shielding off. put a 2x4 arcross the oil pan and slowly jack it up. you only need to go about 3/4 of an inch then the header will slip in like a wiener in a 2 dolla hooker. line up your gasket and put a couple bolts in do the other side and drop the motor back down.

yeah that tab was a bitch to get by, get a rag and a rubber mallet to hit the header past it without scratching it. Oh yeah its a easy thing to do but still you need another person to help b/c its a bitch doing it by yourself believe me i know lol.
