I had a 4" for a month or two on my old '02 Z. It had a good sound but wasn't very loud. I think it's because I still had cats at that point. I liked the sound though, just wish I'd !cats before I took it off.

I have their f-body catback. Single 3" in, stock location muffler (but it's like 1/3 the size of a stock muffler) dual 3" out, stainless tips. I have Edelbrock stepped longtubes, Edelbrock ORY, and Spintech catback. It is pretty quiet especially considering I don't have cats. But it also has NO rasp. It sounds SO mean though, I should get a few video/sound clips and put them in my sig.

Spintech though, because of their design, is one of the few chambered mufflers to work well on a turbo car also. They don't cause significant back pressure and their CFM is nuts for a chambered exhaust!

They just aren't very common knowledge, but they are all over racing circles so I honestly don't know why they aren't more popular.

What does the side exhaust look like? Is it a boom tube looking thing?

http://www.drgas.com/store/product.p...8&cat=4&page=1

Not sure about the mufflers but I like those tips. Its just a though at this point. I'm going to stepped kooks from my current sw lt's and catted y set up. Keeping my options open. I'd like true duals but do not want dumped and are not paying thru the nose to run ss over the axles. Right now I'm thinking about drgas' oval tubing and fabbing my own dual set up (with an h pipe most likey) and side exaust angle slightly downward and slashed. Just dont know how good that drgas setup would flow.

But then I looked at the price for one side and had a stroke!

If the pipe is 3" on those, then the muffler has to be 4" and you're gonna have some serious ground clearance issues with those.

Yeah thats the next hurdle. The car wasnt built to have a muffler but only in one spot really. Best fit would be lakepipes but that would be to loud. Its just a thought. I really like the look of a slashed chorme tip sticking out ion front of the rear tire. But maybe its not meant for an fbody. Ahh the hassles of a custom setup.

I'm replacing my 80 series with spintech TDs or with a spintech crossflow in factory location. I've always been a loyal Flowmaster customer cuz they were a local company and they performed well and sounded great but the muffler they offer for us just doesn't flow as well as some of the other choices available so as much as I like the flow sound I'm gonna give another chambered desiegn a try on this car. I don't know how many others have noticed but flowmasters have gotten kinda pricey compared to what they used to cost. Also a lot of the spintech stuff is available in stainless so thats cool too.

Quick Reply: whats up with the spintech mufflers?
