Question F14 cam

In a few weeks I'm gonna cam my SS. I'm picking up a barely used (6k miles) F14 from a good friend of mine. Another good friend of mine recently cammed his 02 SS with a TSP 226/226 cam and it pulls AWESOME. I just rode in a 01 Z28 with a Torquer 2 (same specs as F14, just a cam-motion grind) that was dyno tuned to 405rwhp and it feels weak compared to the little 226 car with a mail-order tune lol. That power under the curve is really nice and I'm second guessing using the F14 now. I know the Z28 I rode in would wake up a lot with 4.10's as opposed to stock 3.42's but I'm still debating selling the F14 and getting a 228R or something similar. Any suggestions?

So how much power did the 226 cam put down?

Honestly my v2 feels sluggish below 3k, but Im running 3.73's so thats part of it. Once she hits 3k, pulls like a f*cking freight train.

You need supporting mods to go with that cam. You can't just step in the ring with ali cause you think you can box..

Supporting mods aren't a problem Jessie. You should go to MIT or somethin'.

If you want something in the 228 range go with the F11

I will take you for another ride when i get the car running right. Car is getting b1000(PCM) and a maf code so i think i was limping around. Hopefully the alternator will fix some of the problems with it. But you can't go wrong with either cam. Jamie's car was a strong car from the get go so you have to take that in to account also.

Yeah Bill I was thinking the same. That SOM isn't Weaksauce lol, it just pulls differently than Jamie's. I think that I'll use the F14 with a nice valvetrain and if I want to go smaller I'll already have the valvetrain adequate enough to do so. Thanks guys.

id definitely go with the F14. i have a 230 size cam, and i will tell you that my car drives so much like stock, that i definitely could have stepped up a bit more. i think you will be happy with the F14.

I would definately go with the F14 cam (Futrals stuff ROCKS and don'tlook back unless your looking for the person your running LOL) but as said above you will need a gear 4.10 of so, a good tune (tune is everything with cam cars), valve train to suport it (springs (good ones) and pushrods), exhaust (headers and exhaust). Any cam and things aftermarket you are going to have to have these things. Good Luck

Like I said, I think I'm gonna stick with the F14 afterall. My buddy Sammy has the F14 in his 01 SS and ran 11.5x's cam-only with 410rwhp. I'll have his same set-up minus the 9" for the time-being. Thanks again everyone.
