MS3: 343 rwhp, 12.2@111. What's going on?

Okay, here's the deal. Car is 1998 Z28, A4
It has:
longtubes, duals, lid, CAI, ported TB, SSF3500, MS3 (237/242 .603/.609 113)
stock LS1 intake, stock pulley, 3.23's
Pulled front sway bar, back seat, spare tire/jack, ran ET streets at the track
I made 319/337 before the cam, through the unlocked stock converter. Added the converter and ran (1.73) 12.62 @ 106.5.
Added the cam/tune and made 343/348 unlocked. Ran (1.78) 12.21 @ 111 (best 60' was 1.74)

Is this right? Is the LS6 intake manifold holding me back that much? I plan to get the intake manifold, pullies, and maybe LCA's this summer in an attempt to run mid-high 11's. Anybody else get, or know of someone who got a cam on an LS1 intake and then upgrade? If so, what can I expect to see from the LS6??
343 rwhp is crap for a cammed LS1, missing bolt ons or not, but 12.2 doesn't seem all that bad. If you look at my numbers you will see that adding the converter and cam netted 25 rwhp, yet I gained 0.4 and 4.5 mph. It shows that I am losing roughly 15rwhp on the dyno due to the looser than stock converter, which already dynos lower than an M6. It's not really the dyno numbers I am concerned with, but maybe they show part of the problem.?
Any and all input is appreciated. I do have a somewhat similer thread in the twelve second club section.

Was the car scanned while it was being tuned? I've done a couple of 98's that had a TON of false knock. You might want to check into that, add the intake, and try it again.

I have a friend who just got that cam. He has about the same mods as you (cam, stall, headers, lid). And put down 380/390 and that is with an ls1 intake. He ran it for the first time this weekend and went 7.7x's with a 1.7x 60. I think your tune is off.

personally i'd be worried as hell about your dyno numbers. that MS3 should put you around 400 in the A4 with full bolt-ons. 380 should be reasonable with current mods.
scan it, get it re-tuned. who tuned the car the first time?

My 1/8 (the only good run where I was in the lane that was working correctly) was 7.81 @ 89.6. I have no idea with the scanned while tuning, but it was done at Speed Inc. The AFR is ~13:1 across the board, save for a small rise around 6k. It also drops off suddenly just after 6k, which seems very odd. I was hoping that the intake just reached it's limit, but maybe that's not the case after all. I've been having people saying anything and everything including the possible false knock just mentioned, the LS1 intake holding me back, the tune being off, converter robbing all the power on the dyno but it should run well at the track, mis-matched cam/stall/gearing combination, etc. The car did only make 319 rwhp through unlocked stock converter with lid, headers, and duals...maybe it's just weak? I really don't know.......

I still cling to hope that I will get 22rwhp from the intake manifold and 10 rwhp from the pullies, netting 375 rwhp. For a stalled auto 375 rwhp seems high enough. After all, 400 rwhp, cam only, through an unlocked auto is virtually unheard of.
But, yes, there is definately something up with this. I just don't know what.

This is what a knowledgeable member of my club posted up, a couple pages into a half pointless thread that seems to center on my shitty combination and shitty results.

Do a compression test.
Log some runs, see what timing advance and AFR and knock is.
Go to a PT4000 stall
Add 4.11s, or get a 9" and go with 3.89s
Slicks and skinnies with a hoosier 27x10.5x15

Some form of torque arm with somepinion angle in it.
WEIGHT REDUCTION.
As it stands I plan to work on gears, intake, pulley, some minor suspension work, any more weight reduction I can manage, and attempt to get compression tested and get some logged runs.

Anyone got a extra MS3 laying around? Would someone try micing(sp?) the lobes on it, to try and verify lift? I ran into a problem, and had a little extra time on my hands. I miced(sp?) mine, and the lift was not what it was advertised. I know this is a very inaccurate way to check a cam, but i also got the exact same number on the intake and exhaust lobe, meaning it wasn't a split lift cam(advertised .603/.609)......hopefully it is just a mis-reading, but my lift numbers i found were lower than advertised, and possibly a wrong/bad cam. Maybe this guy is having the same problem. I will be degreeing the cam in later this week, and will know if my rough calculations were right or not. Good luck with your problems man! I'll let you know what i find out. You're numbers just seem really screwed up......

Guys, one thing to think about before bashing his numbers is the TQ converter was UNLOCKED.. I bet that would be closer to the 365 range locked. Swap out that LS1 intake and there is 10rwhp. Fix the issue at 6k and I bet you get another 5-10 rwhp.
