Default possible the stupidest problem ever....

im really not sure that this thread belongs here, but oh well....

ok i pulled my motor and it went back in w/ new heads and cam just fine. the transmission was a pain in the *** though. it was twisted and didn't wanted to come foward. i used the bottom two bolts that bolt the pan and the one at top the kinda pull the trans foward as i tightened them down. when i everthing was done i cranked the car. everything was fine is except i had a hell of an oil leak. i assumed it was the pan gasket sense i didn't change it. i bought another and pulled the pan back off. when i did this i found that the drivers sides rear lip of the pan was broken. it was an inch piece which included the the bolt hole. i bought a new pan and installed it. i had the same freakin probs w/ getting the trans untwisted. anyways after stuggling, it went together. cranked it up.... same leak.. pulled it back off... same f*ckin piece of the lip was broken off. why is my oil pan doing this???? my plan this time is the not put any of the rear bolts in the pan until the trans has the bolts bolted to the motor. maybe this will releive some stress. what do yall think.

When you say twisted....is it ever lining up with the dowel pins without some brute force?

i took some effort to get the trannie on the pins... i lowered it serveral times and adjusted it... but when it went on the pins i tightened the bolts to pull it foward... one time the stall was in a bind.. but i got that worked out and used the same method as before.

you shouldn't use the two bottom bolts to "suck up" the tranny. is that what you did?
