yeah, i read that last night, it was a pretty good article

that 400 hp they got in "stock" trim is alittle misleading, but about right for the mods considering that they had longtubes and LS6 intake on this 2000 LS1... thats about how much flywheel hp i had when i only had longtubes and LS6 intake. i wish they would have tested it with stock exhaust manifolds and LS1 intake manifold (even if they had to plugg the EGR hole) for their baseline.

Hmm...makes me want to drop the power steering, a/c, water pump, and just run an alternator belt to pick up all the hp I'm losing on accessories.

We were testing the gains of the MS4 and MS4 with Stg 1 heads. Most everyone buying either cam only or heads/cam already has LTs, LS6 intake, etc. bolted onto the car. That's why we baselined it with the bolt-ons. What would have been the point of getting a baseline of a bone-stock motor with no mods then adding the heads/cam and all the bolt-ons? The idea of the article was to get results adding heads/cam.

Flywheel hp is at the crank.
in general it is minus 10% for M6 and 15% for A4 to the wheels.

Thanks for posting the info.

I take from this that the fast 90/90 setup is only benneficial from 4500 rpm and above. Considering I spend 99.9% of my time below that, I'm happy to stick with the stock ls6 intake.

Now if I ever decide to make my car a quarter mile queen, and spend lots of time from 4500-6500, then I'll change intakes, but until then, low end torque is where it's at.

I've actually seen a few charts that show a LOSS of low end torque with the FAST setup! The LS6 is definitely the way to go <5000rpm. Like you said, if you're looking for that last ~10hp way up at 6000+ rpm then the FAST is the way to go...otherwise the LS6 is a very well designed intake.

There's no need to flycut running the MS4 with the PRC stg 1 heads.

i see what you're saying and i agree that people adding heads and cam to their car usually already have LS6 intake and headers,... it just seemed to me that point wasn't made in the article, instead to me it sounded like they were making the point that 'this is a stock motor from a 2000 Trans Am... but oh yeah, its got a LS6 intake on it.'
maybe i'm just being picky... maybe its just my weird intrepretation when reading it

but Brian, i am glad that article was in there, it was really cool seeing the results for the cam alone first, and then they heads added to it... there are not too many cam only MS4 dyno results floating around.

i also wanted to ask you this... the 82 hp gain from this cam that you guys posted on your website, did it come from this test?
