Default Cam choice help: 01 ws6 stock engine, stock rear, 6 sp., full exahaust, lid/filter

I was debating on making a thread or not, but I will kick my own butt if I bought the wrong cam and not be happy after reading on here the cam sticky, and about 20 threads for hours the past 3 days.

I have the ability to install everything, all tools, etc.. just need help on mostly the cam specs and what is out there that equals what I need.

*Parts I am buying:

A Dual Spring Kit for sure.
Hardened Chromoly Pushrods of course

*Vehicle driving:

I take it to work one or twice a week 20 mile trip each round trip, will see maybe 3 or 4 track times a year, occasional cruising from time to time.
Per year about 3-4k miles.

*Here is what I am looking for:

Choppy - very choppy idle
Low - Mid range power and tq mostly
Peak power around 6000 or so, I dont want to have to rev high to make the hp.

Basically looking for something with a stock power band but very nice increase in tq and hp, if it is possible

Ones I have looked into mostly from TSP

228r
224r

Right now my numbers are: 342 Horsepower, 341 Torque

Longtubes, ory, slp lm1, lid, filter.

My goal I guess is 380 hp, 380 tq, I rather have fairly equal increase vs. having like a 420 hp and 360 tq where I have to rev it high like around 6400-6500 or so just to get that hp number.

I will be putting on an underdrive pulley as well.

Thanks for your time.

Have Patrick G spec you a custom cam. I had him do that for me and he came back with a great looking cam. Just let him know what you want out of the car. I found this way a lot easier than trying to decide on one of the other hundreds of cams people run. Also, I like to be different and not run something everyone else has. Just my opinion, something to think about.

Thanks I will keep that in mind.

I am hoping to try and find maybe someone that has the same situation / concerns as me and has already maybe been through cams finding a good one that performs and maybe they could toss the information of where they got it and so forth.

Good thread your looking for exactly what im looking for and about the same driving per year as I will be doing. I dont want a cam to realy spin over 6400-6500 to make the power.
Good thread hopfully more people chime in here and also go into mine. I didnt see this thread until I made one go figure

well i think a auto vs. m6 might require slightly diff. cams for optimal performance. since you have to worry about converter choice as well.

but I hope we both can get some real world user answers.

I am thinking about something like some sort of custom grind, but I just kinda threw those numbers of there since I dont totally understand everything at this pt.

228/228 .600 .600 with a lsa 110

dual springs, not sure of pushrod lengths since I see people using 7.400 and some 7.425's

I want mostly a flat tq curve from like 3500 to 6k
and hp just rising mostly in the mid peaking at about 6k
and I want a pretty choppy sounding idle.

this caught my attention seeing this thread
