Default checker valve springs

Tonight I stopped by Autozone and Advanced quick before they closed. I asked both stores if they had light checker valve springs and they both looked at me like . Then I was like . I explained them being used for checking P/V clearance, rocker wipe, etc. They still were like Am I not saying something right? I can't believe a parts store doesn't carry something so "elementary." O'reilly's was already closed tonight... maybe they will have a clue. I was kinda wanting them for this weekend so I was hoping they would have them.

excellent! They carry quite a few Comp Cams springs so I'll give them that part # and see what they come up with. Thanks!

Another option if you strike out, try a hardware store. They usually have a spring assortment. They are just light springs of a diameter that will fit the retainer and seat, nothing magic.

I got some springs from home depot that I'm using as checker springs. My ultralites came with a set of shims that I used to set the wipe pattern.

I read another post which talked about shimming rockers for wipe pattern using test springs. Should this be done with stock rockers?

Yes, once you change the lift, base circle, etc. you should check geometry.
