Plans for new mods on firehawk
I have been doing research, and consulting with various people especially my buddy at thunder raceing and here is what we have decided to go with........ Let me know what yall think or if i'm missing anything.......
Thunder racing raptor cam:
comp cams 5/16" , 7.4 push rods
patriout gold double valve springs
manley ls1/ls6 double roller timing chain
ls7 lifters
ls2 lifter guide trays
ls1/ls6 modified oil pump
kooks lt w/ off road pipe
ls6 heads w/ valve job, slight bowl work, back cut valves
ls6 intake manifold w/ ported ls1 tb to match
replace all gaskets, seals, and bolts
dyno/tune accordingly
**** headers are going to jet hot coatings for ceramic coating
all work is being done by thunder........ Let me know spome opinions or anything i left out!!

should make for a pretty nasty performer.
big cam with good flowing heads. but i'd worry about the low end power, but that may not be what you're building it for.
and honestly, i think i'd spend the extra coin and get the ported FAST. with that big of a setup you'd probably gain 20hp over the LS6.
granted it IS another $1500
oh, and i didnt see injectors on that list.

Only thing on that list I'd change is that I'd use the caddy racing lifters over the LS7 lifters. The oil pump off the DOD engines flows 30% better than our pump when both are unported. For comparison, the Melling oil pump is about 18% better than ours.
So yeah, I'd go with a DOD oil pump and caddy lifters. You going to be driving it every day?

injectors will be replaced if needed after tune and dyno show they need them. as far as the oil pump.... its a aftermarket ls6 style ported and flows 30% better than stock.
the car will be a dd for about a 3-4 months after work complete then strait to garage queen. it has been projected to get anywhere from 440-450rwhp when complete. i'm already spending 4300 after i purchased headers, intake, heads so my budget is almost tapped out.

the cam has a power band from 2300 - 68oo rpm's. with me haveing 4:10's in the rear my low end power should be fine. i don't do alot of track mainly street racing with it.

while the 4.10s will weaken the rear...or BE the weak part...you may have it live longer than you think.
granted i'm on stock gears, but with the stud kit and rear end girdle...my 10bolt is holding 400rwhp.
and i ran 315 DRs for 2 yrs....and shifting with a VERY solid spec 4 clutch.
but yeah...either way you're on borrowed time.
now pardon me while i go knock on some wood

YEA, IVE BEEN TOLD THAT AS LONG AS I DON'T PUT ANYTHING STICKY ON i SHOULD BE FINE FOR A WHILE WITH RUNING A SPEC 2+ CLUTCH. I DO HAVE A SET OF NITTO DRAG RADIALS AND I'D LOVE TO MAKE A RUN AT THE TRACK ONCE SHE IS DONE BUT I'M WORRIED I WILL LOOSE THE REAR AS SOON AS I LAUNCH
