Default Oil cooler Q

I searched and haven't seen anybody with an oil cooler mounted up high like this:

I haven't started it yet. Just curious if i'll run into any problems, maybe pcv? I'm hoping to fire it up tonight, I'll crank the motor over to fill everything with oil.

Thanks, Russ

It should work. Kind of like the Off road trucks with their rad. in the bed. I would tape some string on the hood and see if the air is drawn in or pushed out of the hood. Why because a cowl hood draws the air in at the base of the windshield. t really doesn't matter as long as you have air flow across the cooler. I mounted my coolers in the nose cone. i removed the styrofoam off of the metal cross piece. Then mounted them on that , with a pusher fan.

Cool thanks. I didn't want to push oil out the dipstick or out a pcv hose ect. I just filled it with oil and will go fire it up now. I've got 7.5 qts in there, hopefully it'll be enough.

Where is your oil return line going to. The cooler will also drain empty with out a check valve, might make it hard to get an accurate level in the pan.

Why would you do that? Why not go with water/air and mount a heat exchanger ?

I've got a sandwich adapter. I believe all filters have a check valve. I'm running german castrol with a mobil 1 filter.

Just got back from a spin up Provo canyon. It maintains 45 psi hot idle pressure and when i glanced down at the gauge it was 65-70 psi WOT @ 5k rpm. I'll wait to run it hard after a couple shake downs.

Weight is the enemy my friend. I was limited on available mounting spots and chose the wing since the front (where the RD rad is) would need 12 ft of line in each direction.

THE COOLER WORKS BEAUTIFULLY! I also installed a front splitter that directs more air into the radiator...I turned the rad fans off to see how hot it would get and the water refused to budge above 195 running up and down state st light to light. Oil Temp sender is installed, just need to run the wire to the gauge, then i'll be able to monitor the oil.

I'm happy, the car's been parked for a month and a half.

You keep changing your damn comment

Yeah splitter works great. I lost 2.5'' of ground clearance so i've gotta be careful now. Bilsteins are adjusted down to the weeds.

My new ebay prize

Believe it or not, used XRP light weight lines off one of Richard Petty's nascars. They're ridiculously feather weight, I could've never afforded these @ $47 a foot new.
